  • Now that's cool

  • Subic JEST is where US pilots trained for jungle escape and survival through the Vietnam war till the closing of the naval base in Subic Bay. The trainors are Aetas, Philippine aborigines expert in jungle fieldcraft and survival skills.

  • That is a thing of beauty.

  • What kind of machete/kukri is that?

  • @trappistachel Whichever cheap one they sell in the Philippines

  • @MrJVote I'm guessing you don't know.

  • @trappistachel Looks pretty sharp to me.

  • @trappistachel

    That's a bolo

  • @miamiarnisgroup Yeah, I know, I was looking for specifics like WHO makes it, and where I can get one.

  • @trappistachel Those are filipino machetes they are using. You could buy one in any public market in the Philippines but you have to choose well because quality and craftsmanship varies. On line try the Balisong or butterfly knife makers from the Philippines.

  • buen video muy bien explicado gracias por compartirlo un saludo

  • fire so much cooler when you have to work for it

  • This is a good demo. What else is taught at JEST, and how much did it cost? Do you get to practice your technique or is it lecture/demo only?

  • @bbaquiran They have several programs you can do. All I had time for was the demo which had; fire making, making a dozen things out of bamboo, useful jungle plants, and how to find water.

Think it cost me about two bucks to get into the park.

Did get to practice, really need to work on my technique.

  • @MrJVote thanks, I'll look into this next time I get to pass thru Subic.

  • Very nicely done! Good video quality, good explanation... very interesting and very useful.

  • Very well thought out teaching style.

    I understand completely.

    Great job.

    Salamat po

  • Nice vid, thanks
