  • Yup. There is no way I could have kept the tires from spinning otherwise. I never had any problems racing in 4wd BUT I did have to turn down the front torsion bars to effectively lower the front end. Otherwise the front end raises high enough during acceleration to cause the front tires to hang at an odd angle and they scrub all the way down the track. It also reduced the front end "dance" that you see in the first part of the video. I'm sure you'll reduce strain on the suspension as well.

  • so were you racing it in 4wd and is it safe to do it in 4wd?

  • @romansoldierofhonor That hurts! Did a piston let go or was it a gasket? The 6.0L block with the right cam is pretty nice. My buddy ran that in his HD truck and it hauled ass for an N/A setup!

  • It obviously wouldn't make the crazy amount of TQ you see on the turbo diesels but it weighed significantly less so it evens out. After installing the twin-turbo front mount kit the truck made 719rwtq and 712rwhp. I sold it to a friend and never got a chance to race it after the new turbos.

  • good to see turbo'd gassers. i cant stand when people brag about their turbocharged silverado or ford or dodge truck then they pull up in a diesel. no shit its turbo'd.

  • To see the effect of lowering the front end for launch stability and to stop the front tires from scrubbing (squealing) all the way down the track watch this video: F8L 12 69@106 8mph (search my videos since they won't let me link)

The truck eventually went 12.11@110mpg on a 1.80 60'. That was before the twin-turbo.

  • I was running the stock 4L60E at the time and I didn't have any problems. I ended up upgrading to a 4L80E but the first gear is horrible and it killed my 60' times even with a new converter. I ended up selling the truck to my buddy who owns Synergy Motorsports. Last dyno was over 700rwhp with a front mount twin kit.

After launching a few times like in the video above, I cranked down the torsion bars and dropped the front end a few inches. That cured the crazy front end lift.

  • were you using the stock 4L60E? I'm afraid to launch mine like that (I have the stock 4L60E)

  • Say HELLO to Mr,Tir-rod killer or Pitmen arm??? what stinkin pitmen arm lol ballin dude

  • MrBucket0fries, are you running a front or rear mount turbo? I ended up running 13psi on the rear-mount and it went 12.3@110. That was back in 2005. Later we switched to a twin front-mount setup and ran it up to 18psi on the dyno and made 718rwhp. Never took it to the track though and it was sold to my friend who owns Synergy Motorsports. He is still adding pieces here and there.

  • @F8L i was running 8-10 psi with a procharger on my 5.3 stock. lol i blew the engine up about 2 months ago and now im going all N/A. going with a 6.0 block now.

  • im running about the same boost in my Z.

  • nice video. did u have to upgraded fuel injectors or anything with the MAF or no? was that just a bolt on and ride/

  • I wouldn't say there's anything just bolt on about a turbo.
