Mathcore does not have to be progressive (see Architects) or even have it's key roots in metal (see Converge, Daughters & DEP) - Also, Progressive metal does not have to be complicated or technical (see Lacuna Coil and Gordian Knot), it also does not need to have a hardcore element. There are other forms of metal to DM dude.

Mathcore does not have to be progressive (see Architects) or even have it's key roots in metal (see Converge, Daughters & DEP) - Also, Progressive metal does not have to be complicated or technical (see Lacuna Coil and Gordian Knot), it also does not need to have a hardcore element. There are other forms of metal to DM dude.

It's just further classification to a more specific level. I agree with you to an extent, but honestly, sub-genres do add clarity, lets face it, Mathcore =/= Deathcore. I hate to say it, but once in a while I think categorizing using sub-genres is good, just not when people mercilessly argue for no reason about it over the internet instead of actually appreciating the song itself, which is fucking awesome.

I love how fans of this music don't know a thing about music but are all about the gear. You should be more concerned with what notes he is playing. You know notes aren't just numbers on a tablature diagram, there is actual notation, and all these guys can read music. Go practice. And not tab.

It's true that the notes are important, but I think that in this kind of music the more important thing is THE PRACTICE. It doesn't seems important on me that you know which notes are they playin', neither if you know how to write it on the stave if you can't play that
