This song came on the radio today as I was getting out of high school. Despite the cold and rain, I rolled down my windows and turned up the volume to share it.
How cool it would be if some younger kid heard it, went home and looked it up, and got into Yes and all the wonder that's prog rock.
@AFiestOfFriends That would be a beautiful story! My dad used to sing Yes in the 70s and his band did a reunion in 2004 when I was in high school and they did Roundabout and ever since then I was hooked!

I was on the front row of one of the Yessongs tour stops in 72 or 73--can't remember that far back anymore. I was struck by what great musicians they were--some of the best I've ever seen. I had seen one of Pink Floyd's Dark Side shows a few months before that and knew I had just seen the two best concernts ever performed.
@LAMBKILLER Saw them twice in 77 at Madison Square Garden. Complimentary tickets from someone who has the contract to move the band's equipment into MSG in New York City. I used to live in New Jersey so the dude who owned the contract had comp tickets to all the shows and they were close to the stage. I sat in 11th row middle section ochestra floor for one night then the other night I was even close at 9th row but right section ochestra floor. Owner of a Lone Heart Album tour.
@MrHardrod2 I had to pay for my tickets, but it was well worth it. Yes put on a great show. Here in Kansas I'm sure we didn't get the wide variety of shows available to NYC people, but I saw a hell of a lot of great groups in my day.
@LAMBKILLER Definitely. Love these bands during that era. Saw Led Zep at the Garden as well. Robin Trower, Allman Bros Band, Jackson Browne. Almost went to see Genesis but my cousin went instead because she loves Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins. Also missed a chance to see the Stones. Wish I did see them during that time. They were still pretty strong that time.
@MrHardrod2 I'm definately jealous, my friend. Many of those bands were on my wish list and I eitther couldn't go (no $ or no ride--gotta drive a long ways sometimes in Kansas to get to some other place) when they came or they didn't come around my area. It was great to be young!
@LAMBKILLER Naw, tickets were not expensive back then and I worked during the summer to save up for concerts as well as delivered newspapers in the mornings before school. I usually get rides from other people who would be going or get a ride with someone who's parents drove them to the concert venue. Parents of kids were cool back then.

I always felt the Yes alignment with the fall of the Beatles was prescient.Seems they took up available office space. And rehired(Alan White)so there was no union layoffs in quality and concience. They even cover!
i have several solo attempts of these members.Friends of Mr Cairo sticks out.Jon Anderson was so vocally present and although the instrumentals are stellar,Jon owns this group.i do however love rick wakeman.
@Daemeon93 good question,i think it is aimed more at expression than profit.if the soul of the music is felt then the money follows which allows the artist more freedom(grocery money).they then go in paths that allow them to create.i bet john anderson is very well off and i enjoy his artsy contribution to my brain.
@Daemeon93 because its not all a bunch of songs whining about some chick that left you or how wasted you got in the tourbus while getting grabs from some groupie skeeze. oh and its not death metal, if i wanna hear a guy scream like hes constipated while someone plays power chords ill send kiss a cheese basket
we could make art in admiration and build a white barked tree or several and wait until the grove with a pict would alctually happen and the story goes
Man, ISAGP, Yours Is No Disgrace, Starship Trooper, Clap, Perpetual Change, so many great tracks on "The Yes Album". Few albums are greater than this one.
@beatlemaniac1966 I agree. Phil Collins used to see Yes at the Marquee every wednesday to get inspiration for Genesis. He always wanted Genesis to have musicianship like yes
@nitromeguy3:35 It's the way the keyboard rings and then silence leaves you hanging for a fraction of a second (to let you catch your breath, no doubt) before the "All Good People" section pulls the rug out from under the dreamy mood set up by "You're Move".
Technically, the goal isn't to capture all you want, it is to pin the king down in checkmate, and sometimes if the other side has more pieces, it will work against them, because they can be in the way of the king's moving out of check. But hey, it still makes a good song lyric.
Every time I heard this song on the radio, I tried to go to the website to find what band this was, and I could never find it. And I was too enthralled by the music to pay attention to the lyrics.
I've finally found this song. It's the love of my life :/. If I'd only known that this was the same band that sang the song "And You and I", my troubles wouldn't have been so great.
Fringe brought me here. and I'm glad for that.

I'm 20 years old. This. Freakin. Rules. My dad and I joke about how well off I would of been growing up in this era. Don't I know it.

The ultimate quest was worth it :D
