Sideburn- I was there! Great to watch clips of the concert! Great memories! But what happened to your footage of Priscilla and the duet with Elvis and Lisa Marie. Loved watching it- where is it now?
Saw ELVIS at the o2 in London Sunday 28th Feb 2010.. and let me tell you he ROCKED that Arena and everybody there !!!!! Elvis, the only Artist to deserve the title of "KING" even though he never played up to that name in his life time.. who else has this much power over an audience 33 years after their passing? Phenomenon , Genius are not enough to describe ELVIS. The only one in his Class.
no dought he is the king of music and entertainment of all times.... even after 30 yeras he is becoming more and more populer with #1 songs in todays charts.... Amazing he was so gifted and talanted
Me & my husband seen the concert in Lousiville, KY. It was wonderful! I felt like Elvis was going to come out on that stage the whole time, it's like he was really there. I wish I could have seen him in person when he was alive, but this was wonderful!!
We are watching, on our monitor screens , through the YouTube video-windows... to a man who just appears on a widescreen-video and who died 32 years ago.... and we still feel exited !
How great does a man have to be to bring his brilliance back from the dead!
Todd Morgan came on stage prior to the concert and annouced that the Fedx Forum was sold out. Just think about that for a while. Todd Morgan deserved an award for this production. An amasing concert. All of EPE should be commended.
I was in memphis for both shows. I bought the vip tickets and got to meet the tcb band, lisa maria and priscilla. I'm 31 yrs old and it was the best time of my life. i would never see him live since i was born too late, but this concert was the best thing my ears and eyes have experienced . Sold out 20,000+ in attendance im a huge elvis fan!
I was there for the first ever Elvis in Concert in 1997 had no idea what to expect and when Lisa sang Dont Cry Daddy there wasnt a dry eye in the place..goosebumps or what, wow!! Each 5year concert has been even more amazing.. but the opening in 2007 took the biscuit!! WOW.. the Fedex just erupted totally with excitement - who cares who took Elvis's 'part' cos just 2 see ''him'' leave Graceland - to us all it WAS Elvis.. FANTASTIC night.. I'll be there Aug 2012 all the way from Leeds, England..
im a real elvis fan and i like this i think its touching and very well executed..so maybe if your gonna speak for the millions of elvis fans out there you should probably make sure you've got the general feeling right
One aspect of the Elvis tour life closely associated with Joe Guercio [Elvis' Music Director] is the opening music the theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey (Also Sprach Zarathustra) which was his suggestion.
'I'd gone to see the classic sci-fi film in a theatre with my late wife, and when the dramatic music began for the movie, she whispered to me, 'You'd think Elvis was about to enter'. It went on to become a classic opening in itself for the Elvis concerts', he says, rather proudly.
Thank you for posting this, I was there too, the concert was unforgetable and the opening was AWESOME .... they did a wonderful job to put it all together.
THANKYOU,THANKYOUVERYMUCH!! I was there and it was just awesome...I came all the way from Austria, Europe and the whole EW in memphis was incredible!!
I was there from a small town in England, this part was incredible the whole place seemed to vibrate and it was a very clever idea and brilliant way to start a fantastic concert.
Dejen descansar al REY .... Siempre nos acordaremos a el no hecen falta que sigan ganando dinero a costa de el y lo peor de todo es que hay gente que paga .... ELVIS es de todos
I just heard yesterday that it was Shawn Klush who was walking with Joe Espesito..I heard Shawn's radio interview yesterday. I couldnt have believed...thanks for the video. I'm glad I found this intro
I was there, it was awesome. I took plenty of pictures but I don't have any video, thanks for posting the videos and letting us relive that incredible experience!
This is awesome! I was also fortunate enough to be in Memphis for the 30th Memorial Week. And, yes, that is Shawn Klush (my personal friend) who was crowned the 'Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist' by Elvis Presley Enterprises and Graceland that week. That intro is mesmerizing--almost dream-like!
Of course the real thing was WAY better, but videos never transfer the actual sound/view, and it gets even worse when put on youtube, lol, but still, at least SOMETHING is saved from that awesome show, I hope they release the dvd (or maybe they already have??). Thanks Sideburn for uploading, I had some nice memories there :)
omfg, I screwed up :D thought Giiro meant the actual aniversary concert in comparison to the real thing back in 70s..hehe...still, the actual anniv show was better than we can see on youtube :P
The footage of him getting in the Helicopter was that front he actual aloha concert? I had never seen it before. I swear the Elvis walking in front of the big curtain was a hologram and not real kinda like what they did with him and Celine Dion on American Idol.
Amazing footage. I read somewhere that he would arrive just before and walk straight onto a stage without even seeing it first, no sound check or poncing around. This guy stands alone as the ultimate performer. Michael Jackson and Queen are the only ones who come even a bit close.

My husband surpised me with VIP tickets to this concert for my 50th birthday. Before the show there was a cocktail reception for the 510 VIP ticket holders. I was at this concert and the Midnight in Vegas show which followed. It brought tears to my eyes, excitement, shrieks, quivering...as far as the excitement level - I assure you, ELVIS - THE KING - WAS IN THE BUILDING. He never left! ROCK ON ELVIS!!!
every real fan allready owns this concert, and it's not representive for people that don't know Elvis!
Selling this is like telling people :Look how awfull he looked, and how sick he was! This selling tastes like a freakshow! If you think you do a good job by selling this ,you are deadwrong!
I wish I had been there...this looks increible! What a way to remember the King...A and way to go Shanw Klush, you looked just like him.I hope they release the entire show for us who wasn't there.
I was there and I love it too! What an entrance, you kinda forget that Elvis really wasn't there! Oh in my whole life I will never forget this experience.
I was there, i came away from there feeling like i'd been to a real Elvis concert, it was the best feeling.I've loved Elvis all my life, the whole Elvis week was magic.
Thanks to Jenny, Glen,Scott,Lee,Paul,Stephen and Cheryl for making it even more special. Linda xxxxxxx
Would you guys please stop talking about an impersonator when this was such an amazing opening and concert. I don't give a flip who it was in the opening, my thoughts and sights were for ELVIS!
It was a wonderful concert, the talent these musicians still maintain is just awesome and amazing. We owe EPE a tremendous ovation for putting this all together for the fans of Elvis Presley. It is a memory that will stay in our hearts and heads forever. Thank you Lisa, thank you Priscilla and thank you EPE and everyone on that stage!!! We love you and will forever love Elvis!!
? You're complaining about fingers? What were you expecting,he real thing? Elvis HIMSELF could not be there. Shawn Klush gave the PERFECT illusion for this intro. I know Shawn personally, although I have not spoken with him about this I know he was very humbled to have been chosen for this great oppirtunity, this is just the way he is. He is not only one of the best Elvis impersonators out there he is humble about his talent to be able to do this tribute to a man he admires.
well I was there too and the EPE contest certainly has shed a new light after revealing the grand prize winner was already being used by EPE for things like this. There is no fair contest being ran and EPE has been no exception. Thanks EPE
PPPPPLLLLEASE!!!!! Shawn won the contest hands down and it had nothing to do with the concert intro, he was used simply because his look and size is the closest to Elvis. His pure talent won him the EPE contest. Please don't try and be so little as to try and take that away. Get a life and quit complaining!!
If you knew anything stating how it is, is not complaining. I never said anything against Shawn. He does a nice job. But everyone sees it differently and he was not the winner to me. I know talent, I book talent, it is all in the eye of the beholder. Contest on the other hand have nothing, NOTHING TO DO WITH TALENT. And know one my friend is talented enough to be called the best Elvis.
Yes, it is in the eye of the beholder and the contest was judged by some good talent who knew and love Elvis. No one is calling Shawn Elvis, first there was Elvis, now the closest is Shawn. Shawn himself would be the first to say he is a Elvis Fan First. But the talent that night, spoke for itself and the winner picked my friend, was indeed, THE WINNER!! By complaining, I simply meant that you need not complain that EPE did not conduct the contest fairly.
I am a talent agent that works not only with Elvis impersonators but impersonators and celebrity look a likes of all kind. In my business I have seen many Elvis impersonators. Shawn Klush is one of the best, if not the best. EPE thinks he is THE best. That is good enough for most of us! I'm happy for his win. Donnie Edwards and Trent Carlini are also great talents. Why can't we all just enjoy the entertainiers for what they are. We all know known will ever be Elvis Presley.
Agree 100%. Wish we could just all enjoy the entertainers and be thankful for what they bring to the Elvis/ETA world. Elvis will never be replaced but we can have some fun enjoying some of the ETA's...let's leave it at that instead of all the sniping, backbiting and "who's the best" nonsense. Congrats to Shawn Klush who does Elvis proud AND is a true, blue Elvis fan himself.
Was there and it was absolutely fantastic! That was Shawn Klush at Graceland in the opening and helicopter. He is the closest to the King. Elvis as always was outstanding and the band and singers never cease to amaze us! Thank you all for this wonderful memory. Can't wait till the DVD of the whole concert comes out. The whole week was just wonderful!
it still gives me chills to watch it...i'll never forget being there, what a great night, for those few hours it was as if Elvis was alive and kicking and putting on another great show
I loved this intro! It had me crying. I was there at that concert and I've been talking about it since I got home. Now I can share this with my friends. Thank you so much for posting!!!! Long Live the King!!!!!!
I was there that night. Elvis rocked the house at that show and the midnight show. Thank you so much for posting, now I can share alittle with my friends who could not make it.

Would you guys please stop talking about an impersonator when this was such an amazing opening and concert. I don't give a flip who it was in the opening, my thoughts and sights were for ELVIS!

It gave me goosebumps, the whole intro was just amazing....

Unfortunately...the opening failed to truly represent ELVIS...Elvis had beautiful long, slender fingers...this guy didn't...:(
fmf2elvis 4 years ago

Thanks EPE
drelvis2000 4 years ago
PPPPPLLLLEASE!!!!! Shawn won the contest hands down and it had nothing to do with the concert intro, he was used simply because his look and size is the closest to Elvis. His pure talent won him the EPE contest. Please don't try and be so little as to try and take that away. Get a life and quit complaining!!
sirsmrs 4 years ago
If you knew anything stating how it is, is not complaining. I never said anything against Shawn. He does a nice job. But everyone sees it differently and he was not the winner to me. I know talent, I book talent, it is all in the eye of the beholder. Contest on the other hand have nothing, NOTHING TO DO WITH TALENT. And know one my friend is talented enough to be called the best Elvis.
drelvis2000 4 years ago
That's because he IS your FRiend ..my friend!
Then WHO is your friend? and show why not show us a clip, then WE can be the judge....
Elvos1977 4 years ago

DSTScarlett 4 years ago
I agree, very nice comment DSTScarlett!!
sirsmrs 4 years ago
