The crew defended the base against massive georgian attack, the base was shelled by BM-21, 82 and 120mm mortars and direct fire from tanks and infantery. Finaly the russians run away against a several times huger force, and 11 died in the battle, the base was destroyed. The crew of T-72BA survived, actually they shot all rounds then left the tank, which was destroyed later by direct hit on flanks.
@ISR1917 You heard it wrong, russia did not use T-55, older were T-62M, however ossetians used T-55. Second thing is the RPG-29, georgia did not have such. The true story might be "russian T62 (or ossetian T55) knocked two georgian T72M1 on the flank and then got hit by multiple RPG-7 hit and was disabled. Anyway all is wrong, because russia did not lose a single T62, only 2 T72BV (1 accidented, 1 ambushed) and the T72BA in the peacemaker base (artillery and tank shell on it)

Many of these pictures are photoshops and repeats.
Most however are marine corps M1A1s from the very early years of the war, which are NOT used anymore.
And even when they were destroyed, it was by MANY MANY SHOTS from high quality Russian ATGMs from the 90s and 2000s, not Chinese from the 70s.
