Ryu is Focus. Ken is Technique. Ryu has perfected the style they both use while Ken has altered it to better fit combat and himself. So where Ryu will always have power, Ken will have speed and I love that about them. They use the same style but in different ways and that's why the fight between them will always be the most epic battle out of all of Street Fighter.

You are correct my man Ryu uses Shotokan blackbelt karate for focus and Ken uses Shotokan blackbelt karate for technique. Akuma uses it for perfection and destruction combined with focus and technique. Gouken uses these same attributes for the greater good but, he never followed his baby brother Akuma's belief in using it to destroy and take out human lives. This is the way of The Dark Hadou spiritual law a warrior does all he can to win and Akuma believed in this.
