He does seem to ignore the clear reality, free labour, and colonization that led to the rise of the West. The East and South is rising back up bc they have began to take advantage of the loop holes in the West for their own advantage. And the sheer size of their populations.

@goraddy free labour was not the exclusive domain of the west, the mid east slave trade was more extensive and over a longer period of time than the european slave trade. so the free labour argument is not as large an element of western ascention as some argue. If anything it was the cultural colonialization, the offering of a different lifestyle that appealed to citizens of colonies, that allowed western imperialism to dominate.

The rise of the west was not 'inevitable', but due to a culmination of the most extraordinary of circumstances. Not that the amazing people of Europe who caused the rise of the west don't deserve the credit and/or respect, but that the Eurocentric education given to most of the world paints a picture that Western civilization is inherently superior.

@panniize pankaj mishra brought up many things including slavery(which was abolished in brit-india in the 1840's-india had multiple euro countries that had invested interests,but it seems british rule did improvethings)but he seems to accuse Brit of many things that prior euro countries had done or didnt happen.Noone denies that massacres didnt happen when india tried to obtain its freedom,however these were isolated issues.villages were destroyed due torevolution separating india and pakistan

@panniize wow - excellent comeback, cause it's very easy to have a detailed and structured argument with the 500 characters youtube gives. i put it to you that you're now being incoherent, you have simply not put enough info down. Furthermore, I do not see Ferguson publishing any racial slurs from policemen/doctors/government officials or even 'christians' from 150 years ago, unlike mishra with his 'excellent' use of racial slurs by muslims (and no ones) towards Britain in his published work.

@mobility987 So just because he does not publish them it means they don't exist ? Are you kidding me ? Read The Last Mughal by William Dalrymple for a good idea of the racist slurs the British used. Late 19th century and early 20th century British books and novels are full of racist ideologues. As for the slurs used by the 'Muslims' against the British, I think you have enough brains to understand that if you enslave a nation or a people, they won't sing your praises will they ? Look at Iraq.

@panniize what are you talking about? i stated that when it comes to nisha, he cites racist comments to discern fergusons book;please highlight the part where i lay claim that racism did not happen by britain.I was stating that nisha's critique seems a little flawed as he throws a large sum of information,some correct,some incorrect, in a not so technical style+citations of racial slurs by indian nobodies who did not accomplish anything in their lifetime- to make fergusons book seem substandard
