from what i heard(NOT SAYING THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH!!!), the guy was killed due to the crossmember crushing his head enough that it put enough pressure on his brain to kill him. kind of like a horrible concussion. But again, that is just what i heard. It could be completely wrong
