What is ironic is that the worst of the worst (Vince, and to a lesser extent the pre-Christian Michaels and HHH screwing Bret) led to the best of the best (Austin vs. McMahon). The Austin/McMahon feud was born specifically out of the Montreal Screwjob because Austin had all the respect in the world for Bret Hart.
