Due to comments on this vid, I am now quite sure that someone here in Decatur County, West TN, including my hometown of Decaturville, felt the quake. But again, I didn't feel it. Just lucky I guess. Hope everyone in VA and NC are OK after the quake and Hurricane.

I live close to Roanoke. I was downstairs in my house when the earthquake hit. The house shook and I thought it was going to collapse.

I hope things are fine there after all this. Just had an aftershock too.

I was just at Sals Italian Restaurant there by the Kroger in Roanoke then went to Fresh Market off Colonial. What a coincidence!! Small world!! Hope they get those roads finished. What a mess getting into Roanoke!!

I know wath it is to be in middel of a eathquake i can say it was scarry i really run out the hotel and sleep outside on a beach bed.

Richter scale was 7.

The Hotel self was bit damaged just some gaps and deep scratch in walls.

Hey man, we're over here in Bedford. I was at work in Madison Heights when it hit. I've been through a few big ones, and this definitely wasn't something to sneeze at . At first, I thought it was a 747 flying too low...until I realized no 747's are Lynchburg bound. lol

I'm in Roanoke and the quake lasted about 20 to 30 seconds it was pretty scary but nothing was overturned or damaged, The 3.0 we had in 2009 cracked my foundation and broke a window and caused a couple of hairline cracks in the interior walls. After the 2009 quake I added earthquake coverage to my homeowners policy. Better safe than sorry.

i felt it. i was sitting on the couch and all of a sudden the refection on the window started to move, then the couch started swaying side to side and then my fish bowl the water started to shake

Several in Montgomery, AL said they felt it, I was at the bowling alley in Fort Rucker, AL at the time - noticed pins randomly knock over - never thought much about it

I felt it in Reston, VA too. We rarely get earthquakes at this magnitude here in the DC area. Glad to hear you're alright. I am too. :)

I don't live in Virginia, so i didn't have any shake in my coutry, but i got a water damage last saturday (because the bathtub overflowed). My bathroom is on the attic and the water poured down to the living room below and flooded it, and also poured down to the basement. That water was brown like shit and smelly because the insulation in the ceiling is sheep wool. I think i've got much more damages than Dieselducy ):

Glad everybody is OK. I heard the quake was felt, so far, as far West, south-west as Chatanooga TN and as far south as georgia. I'm in west TN and now this has me watching the New Madrid fault closer. BTW, nice house and Diesel Ducy Museum, glad there was no serious damage, is the little Train Engine OK? Bet he has nervous wheels after the quake.

I'm sure if I'd been at my trailer I'd have felt it, but I was at my moms and her house is very sturdy so I didn't feel anything. The only way I knew about it at all was from Facebook and then ABC & Yahoo News. Glad everyone is OK.

I didn't know earth quake. I didn't watch news on TV today. Malaysia television is the best. Every 8PM, they show all news. After Japan earthquake and then come to you.

I live right near Dulles Airport, occasionally we get a loud md80 or a pond hopper that shakes the house. I assumed that was the cause for the first few seconds, as it grew, I realized it was an earthquake. I ran out of the house with one shoe on! No damage at my house though!

Glad to hear you're alright. We felt it here in Tinton Falls, NJ for about 5 seconds. Only thing that fell over was some change on my desk. No cracks that we know off.
