@ILgInnnn yeah ok turk, and the jews stabbed the germans in the back, anything to excuse your genocidal ways. youre sitting on armenian land just as you were on arab land. but we dont forget and we dont stand down. revenge is passed on to future generations. so the next time you start another slaughter of christians and armenians remember karapagh. from now on the gloves are off..and you can join your ambassadors in hell
@stuartadams64 The only Irish members of The Pogues are Philip and Terry, both from Dublin. Shane is sort of half and half since he was born in Kent while visiting relatives but spent the first few years of his life in Tipperary. Spider, James, Jem, Andrew and Darryl are all English and Cait was born in Nigeria to Irish and Scottish parents.
@stuartadams64 Irish - sure, one born in Kent, 2 in the Midlands (Stoke and Worsely) another from Eastbourne, a cockney lad and a Nigerian bass player
@Bobby01983 It's not trying to be. It's a mixture of different musical styles, mainly Middle Eastern folk, Irish folk and punk. It's not really trying to emulate Turkish folk music in any specific way.
Really like this version to, thou I prefer the album version from "...Grace of god." But this one isn't as hasty and that makes it easyer to listen to... miss Shane's shrieks thou ;)
can't believe I heard this first time...Pogues rules

Actually if you're arguing nationality, Joe Strummer's in the band for this song and he was born in Turkey. Maybe it's a Turkish punk song...

I think this version is a bit too slow. I love it too, ofcourse, but I just think speeding it up like the Grace Of God version sounds better.
nahing 3 years ago
Is there a sped up version?
I've heard it live and it's much faster.
