Can i ask you guys...The HDMI 1.3 upgrade to 1.4 will work as you say from the PS3, ..but! will the 3D compatable games hooked to a 3D ready projector really work on their current 1.3 ports? i mean with the DLP glasses bought with them also?

* Short version is it worth getting a '3d ready projector yet?' -primary use: PS£ 3d content

Suggestion for your HTPC build:

Research the new H55 platform and see if it will meet your needs. If not, go with whatever platform.

Graphics: Radeon HD 5000 series, could go with a 5750 to keep the cost down.

Sound: AuzenTech AZT-XFHTHD or ASUS Xonar. The AuzenTech has HDMI video passthrough so you could use any HDCP compliant graphics card/chip. It is also a universal soundcard, supporting traditional PC audio & headphones.

Of course, Bluray, large HDD, ATSC and Cablecard and a slick case.

I have a question, I am on a budget and can only spend up to $500 on a new tv, so far I have found a AOC tv and a Vizio tv that i want, both are 720p the Aoc has I think 3 or 4 HDMI ports and the Vizio has I think 2, I have a choice between 2 different Vizios that are under $500, so which should I choose? Or should I get another Playstation 3, I sold my last one, I did not use it to play games but only to surf the web and watch videos, I sold my last one after the hard drive crashed, any help?

I can only say from experience, I've filmed some stuff in HD (720p) and uploaded to another account, for a 10 min clip it took about 2 hours or so after it went live to be in HD. As for a measurement system? I'm not sure. There is an indicator though, the HD button on the player =)
