  • Thanks for watching!!

  • @j45007

Wow. I own a 1976 Newport sedan and a 1975 new yorker sedan.

Back in the 80s the chryslers and dodge c body cars got smaller (which I don't like) and they were all the same.

Nice vid man hope to see more.

  • I had a 1980 plymouth gran fury Texas unmarked patrol car back in 1989-90. had the 360 and God do i miss that car!

  • These are rare now since very few of them were sold and many of them were destroyed when they were used as police cars in a bunch of movies and tv shows!

  • Love to have one! It would be a great support vehicle for my Mirada, when I'm done with it. Too bad Ma Mopar didn't make any R-body wagons.

  • wonderful car that was way better than chevy and ford counterparts, i rode in one back in 1980... I predict it will make classic status on grounds on rarity alone!

  • Looks to be in quite a state of disrepair! What can you find out about its history and its current status?

  • Nice Car, Why did they stopped making them so early in 80s? They should've continued making them til 1991.

  • @qwandiddy The R body cars were only made from '79-'81. None of them really sold well. Sales started out ok but tanked when the second energy crisis hit, and also due to Chryslers poor financial situation at the time. . With declining sales and rising gas prices, at the time, Chrysler foolishly took a gamble and dropped full their size cars for good after '81. Bad decision when you consider that GM and Ford's full sizers sold very well all through the '80's with little change.

  • No way! An original St. Regis patrol car in full equipment?! That is an awesome find!

  • i love these guys... chrysler has been friends wit prob more company than any other... imagine a non police version....

  • This was IMO the last of the real Mopars, I've only seen very few of these cars in my lifetime (I'm 30 years of age BTW) and I always liked the style of these cars, too bad the 440 was never offered on these cars

  • THANK YOU FOR POSTING. I AM A GERMAN AND I HATE OUR UGLY SMALL CARS. EVERYONE TELL ME THE SHIT OF ECO. IN THE REALITY WE HAVE AN ECO LIE.

THE ST. REGIS WAS A WONDERFUL CAR, SOMEONE TOLD ME, WHEN THE LIGHTS WERE ON, THE TRANSPARENT LIDS LIFTING UP.

  • What a great looking car. And the cockpit, my God. I could drive that thing for the rest of my life.

  • you can tell from my profile pic that I like these cars! thanks!

  • cool. you never see those anymore. i used to see them all the time on shows like hardcastle and mccormick or the a-team.

  • Can anyone tell me the acceleration time from 0 to 60 mph and the top speed of this nice car?

  • @andi4life

I had the cousin-a '79 Chrysler Newport. It was an A38 code cop car! It had 143K miles on it and it didn't burn/ leak any oil when I bought it. I did have to regasket the carb, but that was it, the car was solid. It ran a little over the 120 mph indicated speed, ~122mph, as the cluster only went to 120mph, but it was certified! I remember doing some stopwatch runs, the 0-60 was ~8.5 seconds and the 1/4 mile was 16.6 seconds @ ~86 mph. The 318 and slant 6 engines are slower I'm sure.

  • @Believe231

The acceleration is so good? The site automobile-catalog. com also has data about the Chrysler Newport (only simulated) and there the acceleration of the one with the 360 is quoted with "10.9s" for 0-60 mph.

  • @andi4life

Yep, that makes sense for the low output 2 barrel 360 motor which I believe was rated around 155hp 270 torque. Mine had the Federal emission E58 code "High Output" 360 4 barrel engine rated at 195hp 295 torque.

  • @Believe231

The site actually claims that the acceleration of the 1979 Chrysler Newport 360 with 195 hp is 10.9 seconds from 0-60 mph and the top speed is 118 mph. However, these are only simulated data.

  • @andi4life I believe that I had the 79 New Yorker with that motor it would pick up and take off and all with a about

    20+ mpg

  • I want one, hard to find one norway or europe at all.

  • Do anyone watched reruns of T.J. Hooker.

  • @32rodrick

Not me, but I've been watching episodes of the "A-Team" on DVD ... and that show is merciless on these cars.

  • The Maine State Police used these for awhile in the late 70's-early 80's. They had a mean look about them. Menacing.

  • Only 35,000 St. Regis' were made for 1979, just 17,000 for 1980 and just over 5,000 for 1981. That's less than 60,000 total over three years. In comparison Ford sold just over 350.000 LTD's just in 1979, with Chevy 270,000 Impalas and about 300,000 Caprice's just in that year. And yes a lot of St. Regis' were destroyed during the '80's in various TV shows and movies, making them pretty rare!

  • had 1 with a 318.very good car

  • crap

  • Nice car, I haven't seen one around since the Summer of 2005, I've only seen maybe 2-3 of these cars in my entire life

  • The St. Regis was one of Chryslers R-body cars, along with the Chrysler Newport and New Yorker, and the Plymouth Gran Fury. They were only made for three years, 1979-1981. They were to compete with GM and Ford's newly downsized big cars, but I believe due to Chryslers financial situation at the time these cars didn't sell in large numbers, making them rare finds.

  • @Progrocker70

"I believe due to Chryslers financial situation at the time these cars didn't sell in large numbers, making them rare finds."

And, making running models harder to find were the fact that most were left to rot, were scrapped or destroyed in episodes of "The A-Team."

  • My first car was a 1981 Dodge St. Regis It was equipped with a police underbody package, skid plates basically, and a 360 v8

  • I was wondering if that car was a real police car and why it was standing there?

Was it still in use or somebody just made a police cruiser out of it?

Check my car vids out folks ; )

    Greetings from Germany Bogar^^

  • Yea, its not a traditional collectors car, its not a 60s fastback Mustang but, its a good piece for personal collection, and one day it may be worth a lot. Four doors is a road block for cars being collectible.

  • Wow!; I guess that certainly is a piece of automotive history so to speak....cool video Bogar :)

  • @matts6887, hey Matt! Whats new with you? And yes For Sure Good piece of AutoMotive History. -BOGAR!

  • Neat finds! The St. Regis is a forgotten workhorse. I believe it still had leaf springs in the rear and a torsion bar sprung independent front. Ancient, but totally bullet proof. Too bad you couldn't get one of these with a 440!

  • @CorvusCasull, yeah i fully agree. And just one year before in 1977 you could get the capable 440 in the Monaco. Thanks for coming around, -BOGAR!

  • @CorvusCasull I have been told by many that the 79's had a BB 400 option. I still choose not to believe that as I have all the service manuals for the 79, 80, and 81 StR; all of which makes no mention of a big block option. The E58 360 seems to have been the biggest engine package. If anyone has printed MOPAR documentation of a stock StR with a 400, please speak up. I would love to be wrong on this.

  • @CorvusCasull , I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who appreciates these things. I used to have a similar '79 Newport, that I rescued from the junkyard and had for a couple years. Now I have a pair of '79 New Yorkers, but I've always wanted a St. Regis! And, if it's any consolation, a big-block will fit under that hood! These cars are basically the old '71-78 Mopar intermediates, just in a crisp, new wrapper. I knew someone who put a 400 big block in an '80 Gran Fury.

  • lots of leg room at the back.

  • @moneyshop16, seems comfortable doesn't it?

  • it feels more comfortable than some cars that are made today. i mean i hate the fact that people starting to make smaller car with crappy tiny engines next to no power, where before it was all about V8.... GAS price is readiculous

  • what an awesome find, great job Bogar!

  • @Buckshot3715, thanks for watching buddy. -BOGAR!

  • I used to think the same thing about those cars!! I used to think they were a LeSabre until I got closer! hahahaha!

  • @JakeDaSnakeFilms, yeah its funny! how was your weekend?

  • not bad i spose :P

  • i did add you on myspace.

  • yea, I got it, & I accepted, thanks!

  • Bufford T. Justice???

  • I just love late 70s-early 80s Big Chrysler's! Back when they were made right!

  • @88BroughamLS, hey paL...thanks for sparking my interest in the these like about a year ago. -BOGAR!

  • holyyy jesus! i'd love to have one of those just cuz of the rarity! I like the headlight design.. seems a little ahead of its times.

  • @raptor750r, yeah i know exactly what you mean i agree!

  • those dodge st regis floats down the hiway.......if i think rightly.....those cars usely came with a 355 ci

  • @rebelrecycler, you're close. LOL.

  • had that feeling.......but its all good....

  • Is that in active duty or not?

  • @Kenster1025, No its not used. Thanks for watching, -BOGAR!

  • my only favourite chrysler was the 1980 chrysler new yorker brougham, it was big, it was packed with everything and the best big body cxar chrysler built....until they downsized it. didnt even redesign the body when it was downsized :S

great vid bogar, i dont know to much about chryslers, but no matter how rare this dodge is, id take ur lesabre or fleetwoof ANYDAY :[)

  • @randomrazr, thanks for the compliments of my Buick and Cadillacs!

  • Not a good time for Chrysler. I am a Chrysler owner, but I would have prefered the Buick. Think the Buick was a much nicer car.

  • @bimjales, which one do you have?

  • I have a '97 Chrysler LHS. Go to my Youtube and you can see it. Lovely car.

  • this is a really rare find. thank you!

  • @Capralos, You're welcome dude!

  • you don't see those too often even in my neck of the woods. i'm not much for chrysler products but i have to say, that's a good catch. nice one bogar!

  • I bet those headlights were slick looking when new and all shined up.

  • @JoeSchlubb, yeah thats what i thoght about those lights too. And im thrilled to see you pay me a visit again -BOGAR!

  • I love these car-spotting videos, especially with "forgotten" american cars like this! The St. Regis is a very nice car, would love one myself.

  • @Illousion1, And i like coming accross them too! When are you making another crown victoria video?

  • As soon as most of the snow here in Sweden has melted, damn there's alot!

Anyway I'll let you know when i do!

  • did you become a youtube partner? theres seems to be a default banner above the video description.

  • @jmoyet, yes last Thursday i did. Im jus starting to use some of the banner stuff. Got any ideas? -BOGAR!

  • you dont see those cars anymore today!

    nice dodge
