never use msconfig to disable anything.

yes win7 uses masses of resources and a whole new system for tracking errors, with a much more friendly and highly advanced interface than msconfig, most of these counters can be disabled safely.

but do it properly, research windows 7 event logging and performance counters and use the guides available.

btw i have researched all this properly in the past, removed all non essential logs and counters and the latency improvement was very minimal.

If you disable the Event Log Service you will get a hard time tracking down system failures. It won't help on a well working PC either, if this does help some they should investigate via Event Viewer instead to get rid of problems instead.

It really does help in GTA Iv cuz IV was recoded onto PC from the xbox version, and so, your frames are fine, but the second you move or anything, you lag. Stopping this process stops Windows 7 from logging events and keystrokes, (which windows Xp didnt do) and therefore you dont have that crappy lag.

Actually, doing this will both help you and not help you... Windows Event Logger creates logs (messages, like in debug mode) on what you're doing in your PC , disabling it will disable creating of those logs, and can reduce lag of your PC, but there are programs that runs only based on logs, so disabling it can also make some programs not work...
