Hey good progression man. Your front squat is way over on your toes even in those high heeled shoes. Practice them bare foot from now on, so you can learn to use your hips more. Other than that everything looks good. Keep going.
im not sure exactly what your referring to about the over the toes thing. if you mean my knees tracking forward over my toes then that's actually something i want to do.
if you mean how i rock up on to my toes at the top of the lift. i think thats probably down to balance after catching a low clean. i can actually front squat normally without doing that, ask kristian about my "imaginary front squats" :p
@bobbyatopk yeah knees tracking over is proper. Lifting your heel is a mess though, especially when already raised by those shoes. Do you always work up to your max weight each week? Might be time to switch down to 5x2-3 @ 80%. You can get the same results reping lighter weights, and your form will be improved obviously with weights that are easier to handle.
@jusres yeah i do some 5s as "assistance" on dynamic effort day. also if im front squatting on max effort day i build up using 3s so the volume is quite high for technique learning. i dont actually fall forwards like that when im repping them. its only after a clean.. also with a snatch i fall forwards too. i think its because i have had some bad experiences with catching the bar too far back so its a confidence thing. wanted to ask btw.. have you measured your vert ?
@bobbyatopk don't measure my vert. Too many variables for proper measuring, and almost never practice that movement in parkour. I've measured a 51.5 inch standing box jump and a 2.85 meter standing long jump (measured from heel).
@bobbyatopk Yeah it is, but hard to compare over the internet, because of arm extensions and what was used to measure it. For example all I have to measure it on is by marking on a wall. The wall throws you off a bit from jumping your max. Also I don't know if people test it shoulder in socket or shoulder out of socket... Either way I still got a lot of work to do. My jump is mediocre at best for high athletic standards ;)
but yeah we both have a way to go before getting to elite level ! i will be happy when i can do a 60 inch box :p
i agree with you about the variables. i know how much i extend my arm so it is good for me to personally track my progress. I recently read about hanging something above and trying to hit your head on it for the most accurate measurement.
@bobbyatopk LOL yeah i've seen people do head measurements. The jump always looks more impressive too, but I've also read that your arm throw can add 20% to your jump, and the technique for head jumps just seems weird haha... Sick when you see guys get their head up to a basketball rim though... freaks.
I really wanna find an olympic weightlifting gym. This makes me wanna learn snatches soo bad!
