good stuff, i enjoy it thoroughly and yes it does put jim beam wite label to shame. although i find it warm to be a bit too harsh, however when chilled it goes a bit smoother. good review!

Glad you reversed your neat compared to on ice assessment. Straight at room temp is where it's at. Try W L Weller special reserve at half the price of Makers it is a wheated whiskey too and very good.

I've been drinking bourbon for a while and agree with you about flavours being affected by ice, but try adding a splash of water (bottled/filtered) to them - this was a recommendation from a boubon enthusiasts' website. It can make a big difference; they can 'open out' and release a lot more of their aroma and flavour. Best wishes from a Brit bourbon convert.

This is a funny review, what does it really tell us? After trying it neat and then on the rocks, first we are told that it is better cold, then, when the alcohol kicked in and impaired our reviewer's sense of taste, it became better neat! so what does this really tell us? Maker's Mark gets you drunk, it really works!

Glad you enjoyed Makers Mark. It goes for $47 for the same bottle you have so you got a bargin . Either way it is a fabulous bourbon. Have you tried Woodford Reserve or Jack Daniels Single Barrel??? Both are excellent but of course it is a matter of personal taste. CHEERS !!

@Jim4575 Jack Daniels is a Tennessee Whiskey, which I feel tastes completely different. Makers descends from Scotch Whisky (which is according to American Law is spelled without an "e") as the people who run Makers distillery are Scot heritage. I had Makers Mark original last night for the first time and it completely blew my socks off. Amazing!

Give this Guy a break. Not everyone has the sophisticated descriptions OK. And He is SPOT ON on MARKS and BEAM. MARKERS MARK can become just awful with watered finish from any melted ice. Just drink it straight or get a mix it correctly. This is a big flavor step up from regular BEAM drinkers for little extra price.
