Rockabilly is a hybrid of rhythm & blues ("rock") and what used to be called hillbilly music ("billy") - bluegrass, music of the Appalachians, country, etc. Violin (fiddle) is a prominent instrument in bluegrass music and a lot of country music as well. Wanda plays both rockabilly and country, so it makes sense to have a violin player on stage.

Check the early 50's footage of Wanda and you will see there was a violin in her band back then, its a fiddle and rockabilly has its roots in bluegrass

@ctownjim A turntable may not be a string or woodwind or brass instrument but it is an instrument none the less. People make beautiful and complex music with them. Just like we (you and I) respect this badass crazy old woman in all her aaaawesomeness and her genre, we should respect another culture's style of expression.
