One of the most fatal errors in pop music is the assumption that drummers and bassists can be easily replaced. Wrong in most cases, here it proved to be absolutely idiotic. McGee and Forbes were brilliant by themselves, but together they were unbelievable!
Good songs, fine production and, of course, Forbes' bass playing saved New Gold Dream and Sparkle In The Rain, but Simple Minds should have disbanded when Forbes left.
The band should have changed their name Simple Minds almost died when McGee left, they most certainly should have changed their name by the time Once Upon A Time was released.
