The Taliban became Mujahideen. They are one of the same. Similar to Al Qaeda became Mujahideen or Iraqi insurgents became Mujahideen once they pick up arms and fight the enemies. Mujahideen mean warriors of god.

Of course, the Mujahideen were not a monolith and you had people like Ahmed Shah Massoud, but none of them were really qualified to run the country or had a real vision for the area that accomodated all of Afghanistan's people. Even Ahmed Shah Massoud was no angel, as he's often made out to be.

Drone attacks were meant to kill terrorists hiding inside them - not for the purpose of killing innocent civilians. Your statement about GEN Petraeus is also not true. Show me some evidence on that. He would be prosecuted for that under UCMJ and thrown in prison for war crimes.

Death squads - are for the purpose of killing mass amounts of civilians based on national origin - like the SS in Germany. We don't have any of those.
