  • After trying this a few times, my SX-70 Sonar now has a 2 second delay, which is down from 15 seconds. Should I keep doing your technique or compromise?

  • @iampee hmm. i've never heard of a delay. usually the film either ejects or it doesn't.

these cameras usually have an ejection time of 1 to 1 1/2 seconds anyway (depending on the camera, the strength of the battery, etc.), i think that you should live with it if you can. it's possible you could get it slightly (maybe 1 or 1/2 a second) better, but i'm not sure the payoff is worth the risk (damage).

  • thanks for the video. just bought a pack of px70 and the camera was not ejecting out the film. pretty sure the film is ok so i tried your method. the film comes out fine now except it is a pretty hard film to use effectively.

  • @boredphuck what film are you using? maybe i can give you some pointers...

  • @artbybradley using px70 as mentioned in my earlier post. seems like shading it from direct light is a must when it comes out from the camera? i only managed to get 1 shot from my pack cos i screwed up the rest while trying to fix the camera.

  • @boredphuck sorry, guess i missed that before when i read it.

yes, you definitely need to shield the photo when it ejects. see my video on PX70 film. if you want the template for the box, then just message me your email address. also, are you using redgular px70 or push, because they react differently.

  • @artbybradley no worries. i am using the push. can't say i really like it. waiting for the silvershade to be available locally. i am planning to use it for some projects. i just saw the video for the box. really useful. i was trying to use the camera case to catch the film but its distracts me from trying to shoot a good photo. :D

  • how can i fix if my mirror is cracked?!~

  • @yellowyellowasian there is no fix as far as i know. the only thing you could do is replace, or purchase a new camera. sorry!

  • great show you got there. I am wondering if you would be able to recommend me where or how to open up or take apart sx 70? I got two bodies and both of them are broken, one is on the lens which is black out and I can see the blade kind of stuck and won't open and another body is the motor which doesn't crank the film out and keep rolling with loud sound non stop when I put the new pack of film in. Any suggestion????

  • well, the best thing to do is adjust it a little at a time, and keep checking it along the way to avoid this happening.

really the only thing i could imagine is that you reverse the process. steady the arm from above at the point where it bends, and use the second tool on the tip from underneath to push up. a may take a few tries, but like i said before, just keep checking along the way.

    good luck!

  • Really good stuff--got mine ejecting...but maybe too well! It ejects multiples at a time!! I've tried "unadjusting" a tad to no avail...sometime it will eject and take other pix with it, resulting in one and a half pix:) Any ideas here?!
