  • This is Aswad when they were a roots band. When Bob Marley was in exile in the E.U., after escaping an assination attempt in Jamaica, he used Aswad in the studio. They were supposed to have recorded "Punky Reggae Party' together. Aswad would later become more of an mainstream reggae band. I especially like their early recordings.

  • wow didn't know that man...cool...

  • @SoulTooSoul they dont sound the same do they

  • @nappyg1 To be honest. Aswad is a shell of their former days. They were a true roots band. They were one of the finest reggae groups in the E. U. They went commercial. They lost their edge and social morality. What a pity.

  • @SoulTooSoul It seems that every reggae group that went commercial lost their edge. I listen to some of the older muzic from all of them and they have some serious messages and now its about partying while we are dieing in vain. sad so sad

  • @SoulTooSoul : i can tell your not a musician.do you no what it takes to make a living off music nowadays and in general,it is one of the hardest sectors to make a living in,esp.when your not playing `commercial` stuff.Aswad paid their dues, and have contribut.plenty to both reggae and music in general.I was lucky enough to see then in Wash DC (Kilimanjaro/Adam Morgan) late 80`s

  • @SoulTooSoul : one of the aswad members did play on that track.and yes, this is good old school Aswad.
