He's simply one of the best guitarists I've seen. Andy Latimer and Steve Hackett will probably always be my favourites, but this guy's right up there with the real Gods of guitar. And he sings really well, too.
I've been waiting a long time for someone who can do the following:
1. Lay down rock, rock blues and blues tunes that will have you picking your jaw up off the floor. 2. Absolutely rip apart the fretboard by applying multilple techniques and blazing chops (this guy is NOT a one trick pony) from song to song and even within a song. 3. Have a voice that supports his guitar work AND can sing within the framework of multiple styles (rock, blues, rock blues etc..). JOE BONAMASSA is the REAL DEAL!!!
When I first saw this gig on Dutch tv (it's from the North Sea Jazz Festival) I was absolutely godstruck. What an absolute cracker. I visited his gigs everytime he played here in Holland since then. Legend.
@jagung5 Gigliotti Custom GT prototype only 3 made with that exact set up. The Fender style headstock had to be modified on other models and the Bonamassa Signature that followed later had a 22 fret neck this guitar is a 21 fret neck.
Wow. I've never heard/seen this guy before. I am so pissed off at myself! He is so amazing. Really, really good stuff here. So nice to discover a great guitar player that I want to listen to all day.
Off of his fingers comes the essense of joes heart and soul,God gave him a beautiful gift and he uses it well. You can hear his soul in his music, and he puts his heart into every song that he plays!!!!!!!
...takes me somewhere and it's good to be there, another great lyric. Can't get enough of this artist's talent. Look forward to seeing him again in Chicago 10/27/11.
I think the best guitar tone is one where you play a note by fretting it and it sounds like ur playing slide. Jonny lang's guitar sounds like that, joes does too. Obviously Derek trucks haha. I love that tone.
I never will ever get tired of going to every live performance of maybe the greatest guitarist of all time i can-thx Joe such an inspiration in so many ways.
Great isn't a sufficient word. It's like there are good moments, great moments, and magical moments. When you come to expect a magical moment every time, you know there's something incredible about the musician.
I have watched and heard this song more than I care to even count ... it still gives me goosebumps and it still is one of my favorite Bonamassa songs. The dude is a freakin legend in the making!
I saw his homecoming concert in Rochester, NY the other night. He played Django and then took it straight into Mountain Time. Took my breath away. Biggest treat was sitting in the front row a few seats from his parents and watching the look of pride on their faces. Thank you Len and Debbie for sharing this gift of yours with us.

Totally awesome, and this is why we study modes. :) This is absolutely masterful use of modes, and I would expect nothing less from the great Bonamassa.
I love watching the handful of musicians in the world who truly have a firm understanding of their instrument and when they strap on, it turns into another part of them.

outstanding! Love the expressions and emotions of the audience - also love the "YEAH" at 6:24 - pure beauty, straight up, from the soul. The guitar work - speaks for itself. Joe B. doesn't just rock - he RULES, baby!

Saw him for first time on this last tour in Fort Worth, Texas and had to drive to Houston to see again. Worth every minute.
saw joe live at the lexington opera house last week. he is an amazing guitarist and blues player. the whole band is sum of the most down to earth ppl i've ever met. after the show they came out side and signed autographs and took pictures. and talked with everybody. most bands don't do that no more. the whole band was wore out but still took the time to meet and greet the fans.

@MG94707 well i dont think its because Page was plastered all the time. that was just towards the late 70s. but i completely agree with you that he is reminiscent of Page.
@LedZeppelinisgod100 Hey I'm a HUGE fan of Page but he WAS smashed almost all the time. You are correct that it was particularlly the later 70's when his playing deteriorated. Joe B here is sharp as a tack. Check out him doing "Just Got Paid" at the o2 arena in London. Toward the end after a long jam he rips into the Dazed and Confused solo. Sick!
dude come on, you dont know that. he was smashed all the time post 1976. before he really didn't do very hard shit like heroin or cocaine. only smoked and drank. (im not saying thats the greatest thing, but it wasnt what he was like later.) like, just look at his playing 1972 Australia on HTWWW. so fucking good! :D
anyways, yeah ive seen multiple clips of Joe playing Dazed and Confused. a very respectable tribute to Page. does justice to it. and not many people can! JB is one hell of a player.
I used to be a hard rocker too until I heard this amazing guy....and now there's no turning back...he is Rock n Blues all the way...I have been converted!!!!!
he's awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never stop!!!
I do usally listen to Old School heavy Metal like Judas Priest an Twisted Sister and stuff, but when you listen to JB, you really got that blues feeling and this is really the best music! JOE BONAMASSA!
Joe B is an insanely talented cat. He is a perfectionist at his technicality. His feel is what sets his playing apart from other slingers. If you get the chance to see him play - don't waste it!
fast, technically, amazing true true, but i still dont feel the same vibes as when im listening to the "black" blueskings. Its white blues to the max, thats all. says this white kid
Joe is the man, Maybe its my OCD but he really should look into getting a tighter pair of bar shades. Would we love him any less if he went shadless?? NO!!
I find myself moved to tears with this song everytime. What a passion and spirit in his playing, he moans out a longing for her that is simply breath taking. This is what love should be for those lucky enough to find it.
He's simply one of the best guitarists I've seen. Andy Latimer and Steve Hackett will probably always be my favourites, but this guy's right up there with the real Gods of guitar. And he sings really well, too.

Such an awesome tune. Though his singing is not really my taste or it just sounds worse because of his brilliant playing.

he stuggles at times with his voice on this song. Joe has said that the key to his singing is rest.

Seeing him in November...cannot wait. Hope he plays this as it's one of my favourite Bonamassa songs!

Joe is the man, Maybe its my OCD but he really should look into getting a tighter pair of bar shades. Would we love him any less if he went shadless?? NO!!

Truly an amazing guitarist. Saw him live in Denmark in Haderslev once. That day inspired me to get better at guitar :)

I find myself moved to tears with this song everytime. What a passion and spirit in his playing, he moans out a longing for her that is simply breath taking. This is what love should be for those lucky enough to find it.

the solo in the beginning is almost same melody with led zeppelin - black mountain side... (1969) good job though, nice song.
