its weird to know that people live on a island that over 5000 people died on, it would give me the creeps knowing my house is probably built around at least 5 dead soldiers. In my opinion they should of left the island as a landmark or something
I have posted some photos that I took in 1973 of Tuvalu, Kiribati, Nauru and Fiji. They can be found on Web shots and by doing a search on "coopec100"
Cant believe I found this. I grew up here in the late 60's and through the 70's. The people are not changed but it has upset me to see the damage done to these beautiful islands with pollution. Wow, Rurubao School, I remember it so well!
Mauri-o! It's so nice to see Kiribati again; to see the islands and hear the language and music. This place is in my blood, as I lived there with my parents when I was growing up through the 80s. It made me smile to see my old school (Rurubao) again - it brought back so many memories! I loved living in Kiribati - such a great experience. My father, Alan Taylor, used to do a couple of shows on radio Kiribati. Tiabo!
thank you for uploading this video..i'm an i-kiribati in new zealand. gotta say i really miss home! i'm sure i'm not the only one that feels that way..ke e kanga naaka??
Tarawa is an atoll. Bairiki is the capital of Tarawa, and therefore Kiribati. At least, that was the case when I was there in the 80s. I love Kiribati and I miss it alot.
lol@Onyx,...just wanted to say I'm Gilbertese and I'd like to thank you for sharing the video, didn't know I'd be able to find one on here hehehe. Oh and I think I know that band!.
KONA MAURI! Sorry my lingo ends there. My mother is originally from Kiribati and I am proud to be from Kiribati too. Let me just say that I give alot of props to The Giants of Kiribati Group. Please let me know how I can help in any way!

Kiribati should really look closely at the settling of Lord Howe Island.

I love Kiribati. I have now been to Christmas Island (east of Tarawa) twice and really enjoyed the scuba diving there.
