That actually happened to a teacher living on the same street as my gramps. Pulled some girl who was beating the shit out of another girl off her and was charged with groping her. Still got his pension though. Which is fucking bizarre. I also had a 4th grade teacher who would periodically lose his shit and throw tantrums and jump up and down on our desks and scream at us. Nothing much happened to him.

This is a very complicated issue. I agree with you in part, and presumably disagree with you on other areas.

abuse of authority to engage in sexual activity with someone below the age of consent cannot be condoned, regardless of the sex of the older party. that is obvious, but chaoszeig's Bill Maher quote below shows that there is an awful double standard regarding perceptions of men/boys getting sex. there is a mentality, that a male getting sex is always desired by that male; that males have zero scruples when it comes to sex, when the reality is patently much more complicated than that.

We did a search for my area to see who was on the "sex offender list". Was interesting to see that there are just as many women on it than men. But in general we only seem to hear about men as abusers and sex offenders.

@tattooskin72 My sister works in a children's hospital. She was telling me about how the male nurses are not allowed to work with the children unsupervised in certain cases. Like a male nurse is not allowed to bathe any child, male or female... whether they are supervised or not. While female nurses can pretty much work with any patient under any circumstance, supervised or not.

This is just in a hospital... There are plenty more cases where men are not allowed to work with children.

You certainly hear about female teachers having sex with male students a lot more then you do the other way around.

In fact can't remember the last time I heard about a male teacher doing so, but can think of at least 3 female teachers in the last few years.

You'd think we'd hear about it from men doing it.

It may be that the media find female teacher/male student relations more shocking and newsworthy than the other way around. It's not necessarily a good idea to assume that inappropriate teacher/student relationships are dominated by female abusers based on what journalists focus on.
