  • I live in Oregon, and I've only been there once when I was really really little. But it's so gorgeous that I can remember it. I wanna go back.....

  • are snowmobiles allowed at Crater Lake in the winter?

  • does it ever freeze in the winter?

  • Hey, what song is this?

  • No nasty comments please!

  • I went there!!! It was so.... BORING!!! god! I know it's big but it's JUST WATER!!! I wonder how peeps like this!!

  • I got to go sledding down the caldera at the peak of Wizard Island. It was one of the best experiences of my life :)

  • I thought crater lake was due to a meteor or something?

  • Been there and also been around the world 3 times and never seen any other places that beautiful !!

  • So Amazing! Just found out bout this place! Me and my girlfriend decided to take the trip in June 2012! Gret shots BTW!

  • @KingBlood074 : i agree..amazing place to visit and the funny thing is my girlfriend and i also decided to visit in june 2012 :) cheers from austria!

  • Great shots, man!

  • Maravilloso, saludos desde el Perú.

  • You are referring to Wizard Island. It is a small volcano, that has grown from within the caldera (the collapsed area). It is not active now, but if it were to become active again it could certainly erupt enough lava to fill in the lake and displace the water over the edges. Also, if it became active, the floor of the lake would rise due to the expansion of the underlying magma chamber (which supplies the lava).

  • @lesliesautter If you take the tour boat, you can stay the night at the summit of wizard island and catch it the next day, right?

  • question..

could one day that mountain sticking out of the water be pushed up to the point it eventually pushes all the water out of the lake. because i heard it was a mountain top that collapsed and if that is true shouldn't there be nothing sticking out of the water since the lake is 1,948 feet deep. im just wondering

  • To answer one of the questions posted, no, you can't take a private boat onto Crater Lake, Not only is it the deepest lake in theUS, it's one of the clearest. Thanks to the poster of this video, but even the best video doesn't do the lake justice. The first time I visited as an adult, I approached the rim and the water was so blue, I could swear the sky had fallen into the crater. Oregon is a beautiful and well-kept secret, and Crater Lake is its crown jewel.

  • man what an awesome place, definitely will be worth the 12 hr drive.

  • @ODST625 aww dude same here ha glad to c there is someone out there like me i mean i might swim in it but not dive things under warer creep me out even rocks idk i guess im weird like that haha

  • one of the most beautiful and spiritual places i have ever been

  • I really miss home

  • Man, look at the deep blue in there. Awesome.

  • Pretty dumb question, but can you launch a boat or jet ski in there? it would be sick to say youve boated on crater lake....

  • @crf450ish don't think you can, there is a tour boat though, think that's it

  • Beautiful. I can't wait to take my family there.

  • Wow

  • luv it ....................it's BEA utiful

  • Heaven!

  • finest god creation !

  • I LOVE OREGON!!!

  • wHERE IS THIS???

  • @MrHaligonian

Crater Lake is in Oregon on Hwy 62 you have to drive about 80 miles north from Interstate 5 unless you fly to Portland then you have to drive interste 5 south... if you decide to fly to Portland i would Recommend seeing all the waterfalls on hwy 84 along the Columbia River Gorge before heading south ...then stop in Salem and see Silver Falls SP... then you can go South to Hwy 138 and see the waterfalls on Umpqua river heading towards Crater Lake

    Google all waterfalls!

  • In 2004 I went here and it was tremoundously awesome.

  • beautiful except too bad it's winter right now and i can't go cuz highway is usually blocked!

  • It's the second cleanest lake in the world. I think they shouldn't let motor boats ride around in it. Should try to keep it as clean as possible.

  • Someone please put me out of my misery.

Why does'nt the lake overflow ?

  • @Hooverdan theres probably are river leading out

  • @Hooverdan I think evaporation and precipitation keep it at the same level. Since, it is not gaining any water from rivers or mountains evaporation lowers the water level, but precipitation keeps it around the same since rain has no where else to go. It can't escape the lake either.

  • @Hooverdan On the north wall of the crater, they found that some water leaks through the wall, enough to keep the lake at a stable level. They still don't know where all that water goes though.

  • nice view if ya think bout it

  • what music is this??????? it's beautiful like the place!

  • Tell me about it!! But the lake is lower here than it was in July 2008 when I was there. :(

  • I had heard the name of this lake being tossed around here and there, but I didn't realize how freaking impressive this place really is. This would be the ideal place for a cryptid creature to lurk in; the American Loch Ness version.

  • When I first walked up over the small hill and stood there gazing at the water my heart started beating fast. it was a really amazing view.

  • ..on my bucket list..

  • Vacation Almost Here! This is one of (i don't know i lost count) on how many stops of beautiful places im visiting during 3 to 4 week Vacation September

  • @insidetheredzone TAKE ME PLEASE

  • Cant wait im going to be doing a 2 week trail crew working on watchman tower and the surrounding area.

  • @snipe378 Be sure and visit the Rouge River Gorge on hwy 62 near Union Creek , Vidae Falls on Rim Road near Crater Lake. (ask the main entrance where it is) also there is alot of waterfalls along the umpqua river above diamond lake...... Watson falls is the tallest in Southern Oregon over 200 ft high...many others on the same hwy from Diamond Lake to Gly research waterfalls near umpqua river

  • The volcano that used to be here was called mount manzana te erupton from the volcano was 47 times the power of mount saint helens and around 3 times bigge than krakatoa being the biggest eruption in recorded history..

  • One of the most beautiful places in the United States that most people have never heard of. I hope it stays that way.

  • Be extremly careful at Rouge River Gorge... this is Dangerous if you fall in your GONE! so if you have kids don't let them run off.....seriously....

this is on hwy 62 heading for crater lake from medford (it will be on your left hand side) There is a parking lot and also a turnout.... parking is free

Watson falls is worth seeing its all uphill you have to cross the street to reach the trailhead (cross the crosswalk) 250 ft waterfall...

  • Its a nice place to visit...

if your coming from Medford be sure and stop at Rouge River Gorge in Union Creek on hwy 62 it will be on your left side....

Also along the Umpqua River there is over 10 Waterfalls be sure and get directions on how to find them

i would highly recommend Watson Falls Clearwater Falls just do a google search on waterfalls near umpqua river (heading to glyde/roseburg along the 138 from crater lake/diamond lake) Also Vida Falls is on Rim Road at Crater Lake

  • impressive :) Wow at 1:05
