This ALMOST makes me not want to even LOOK at the production model....I really hope Five Axis makes parts to give the final model this feel/look. Everything about this concept is perfect, from every angle. Why didn't Toyota listen to Five Axis and at LEAST carried over like 97% of the ideas they came up with......Please do the production model justice Five Axis...I'll be coming to you for parts when I get mine this year.

@FiveAxisDesign can you please provide a full frontal conversion to include the concept headlights and rear lights with the bodykit, because the production lights are the worst thing i've ever seen compared to how beautiful the concept's ones are. too bad the actual car isnt keeping the rear tail lights or how aggressive it looks pretty disappointing i wish it would come out looking similar to your show car as it is gorgeous or even the ft-86 II concept or G-sports concept but no it looks too timid toyota gt-86 :/ and the brz shown already in japan dont look nearly this good so i dont expect a massive change from scion if anything the build quality of the car will go down and will lose many features compared to its rival sibling the brz
damn shame Scion/Toyota's decided to change the headlight/Taillight design on the production model. That alone is probably gonna change my decision to buy one. You guys at 5A got it right the first time. Kudos
From the looks of it, it looks like it don't have that much of tire clearance but then again it is the Concept. From what I heard the only things that might change are the Lights, Front & Back Bumper but not much. Overall....I'm buying this car when it comes out in a heart beat!!! >.< lol
@JNVE1 Yeah like FiveAxisDesign said. It's a 2+2 which means it has got seats in the rear. But only comfortable for the rear passengers if they've had both legs amputated.

@FiveAxisDesign I would've bought one, I was all set to...but now the car looks like a wreck, a mix of a g35 and 300z with a lot less power, and almost certain they wont have left room for an easy turbo set up so unless you have 10grand to custom make a tubing and such and dump some serious money that no one has anymore into a brand new car you just paid 28grand for this car is worthless...it doesn't even have more power then my 12 year old v6 mustang. And that's a damn shame.

@SEVEROSEVERORIVERA the honda s2000 makes 240hp out of a 2.0L engine, that was 10 years ago. the 15 year old honda prelude makes 205 out of a 2.2. theres much better cars in the 25k segment

I'm 23 years old I've worked in body shops, mechanic shops, some engineering school, and no I'm a professional fabricator.
All this said I feel like that gives me some idea of the skill and talent required to build a unique concept like this I know it seems like I'm light years away from something like that.

I personally think they should call this the Celica and put it under Toyota's name then later come out with a similar looking twin turbo 6 cylinder and call it the SUPRA

@CountryBoyDak the difference between a r32 and a gti is a chip. a chip costs like $200 up to 250 hp
if this car is 23k and is as fast as the gti or si ill be somewhat ok with them, but if theyre 0-60 is 7 seconds like ive heard, its not gonna stand a chance against a si or gti
@MARooNSUPRaMK3 When I first saw this, I was excited, but as a I read more about it, I realized that it is a fancy Celica. Flat four that will make between 170-200 hp and weigh just under 3k lbs. Expect 0-60 times in the low 7s and priced in the mid $20,000 range. Its price point is too close to cars that are actually fast. Why would I buy this over a mustang for example? Seems that it will be about as fast as a Miata (but not conv). Being a poor man's 370 isn't going to get them very far.

This is amazing!!!!!.... I currently own a 2008 tC, I was amazed when the 2011 tC came out..... but this just blows the 2011 tC away. I remember seeing this car when it was known as the Toyota "FT-86" concept. Kinda glad it's going to be a Scion instead.... I think I might trade in my tC for this, or keep the tC and get this as a toy :)

How well built are these cars? Meaning, they look great, but do they have full interior? Do you take apart a TC and then put these new bodies on them? The reason I ask is because I'm curious if you would be able to build a custom car that would be street legal if you took the chassis from an existing car. Thanks!
@stephenstudios Concept car builds always vary depending on the design/use of the vehicle itself. Sometimes, they have full interiors, sometimes they do not. When building a concept vehicle such as the FR-S Concept, it is a ground up build starting from a clean slate. Hand drawings are converted to CAD models, and then the vehicles exterior components are formed from this CAD data via our five axis mill. Chassis, suspension and brakes are then custom developed. It is a completely unique vehicle.
it doesnt have to be an existing chassis, you just gotta go to your state hq DMV and get any custom built car inspected for street legality and a VIN and title applied to it. You can also legally change the make/model of the car as well as the VIN if you change a minimum of 10% of the vehicle. my cousin did that with a v6 silverado, got the title changed to H2H FrunkinGruvin (german word)

@sfplayer911 Concept cars such as the FR-S travel around to other promotional/automotive events. You will no doubt see this Scion FR-S Concept at other high-traffic events in the future. Once it has traveled to enough events, concept vehicles are often times placed in museums, etc. Just depends on the manufacturer too and what they want to do with the car.
I absolutely am in love with this car. I hope so much that Scion/Toyota actually makes the sheetmetal exactly as shown - it would break my heart if they tone it down like the test mules running around.
i think this will be the car that saves scion. but i dont think scion should be around. just rebadge them all as toyotas. this car IS a toyota (new ae86) and i think toyota is making a very bad decision. this is an enthusiasts car and i bet they lost a lot of sales making that choice

if they come out with a sports edition at at least 270 hp ill be happy, but if they make it like a tc and make it look fast and only have 150 hp id prolly make fun of who ever actually buys the car

@xyzdorky66 that is true but from what ive read and heard this car is supposed to be aimed at the civic range so im thinkin for around 23k you will probly get around 200 or 215 hp fully loaded. bout the same as a new si civic. but like you said you can get an evo or sti and walk it all day long mainly because there awd turbo rally bred cars but gti i dont know about ....the only golf i would plan on buying would be the golf r32 but gti?

@CountryBoyDak the difference between a r32 and a gti is a chip. a chip costs like $200 up to 250 hp
if this car is 23k and is as fast as the gti or si ill be somewhat ok with them, but if theyre 0-60 is 7 seconds like ive heard, its not gonna stand a chance against a si or gti

@MARooNSUPRaMK3 When I first saw this, I was excited, but as a I read more about it, I realized that it is a fancy Celica. Flat four that will make between 170-200 hp and weigh just under 3k lbs. Expect 0-60 times in the low 7s and priced in the mid $20,000 range. Its price point is too close to cars that are actually fast. Why would I buy this over a mustang for example? Seems that it will be about as fast as a Miata (but not conv). Being a poor man's 370 isn't going to get them very far.

This is amazing!!!!!.... I currently own a 2008 tC, I was amazed when the 2011 tC came out..... but this just blows the 2011 tC away. I remember seeing this car when it was known as the Toyota "FT-86" concept. Kinda glad it's going to be a Scion instead.... I think I might trade in my tC for this, or keep the tC and get this as a toy :)

im kind of dissapointed to see scion all over this car now...i was hoping the ft86 was goin to be just toyota/subaru...dont get me wrong it is a sick lookin car but i thought this was goin to be toyotas BIG sportscar comeback. i feel like it would of been more exclusive as toyota or subaru. but now scion just like all tc's every damn kid is goin to have one and ruin the image of this car. i cant stand seeing hundreds of the same car being raced around. it takes the specialty away from the car.

@dudeimdano well i understand what you mean, but isnt scion the BIG toyota sportscar come back? ever since they dropped the supra and celica, it has been scion all the way since... this FT86 or FRS is going to blow the TC scene out of the water, but moreover we toyota guys will have something on top of the honda guys for once since forever now...

@ayang951 yea im just not a scion fan...to be completly honest im looking forward to subarus model. they are definatly in need of a 2door coupe...also i do agree toyota has fallen out of the sports car world and its a shame with history they have. i like having a car ppl look at and say wtf thats different. and i just feel scion is goin to mass produce this car way to much and its just gunna b like all the civics, tc's, hey look ther goes another one..lol just my opinion.

How well built are these cars? Meaning, they look great, but do they have full interior? Do you take apart a TC and then put these new bodies on them? The reason I ask is because I'm curious if you would be able to build a custom car that would be street legal if you took the chassis from an existing car. Thanks!

@stephenstudios Concept car builds always vary depending on the design/use of the vehicle itself. Sometimes, they have full interiors, sometimes they do not. When building a concept vehicle such as the FR-S Concept, it is a ground up build starting from a clean slate. Hand drawings are converted to CAD models, and then the vehicles exterior components are formed from this CAD data via our five axis mill. Chassis, suspension and brakes are then custom developed. It is a completely unique vehicle.

it doesnt have to be an existing chassis, you just gotta go to your state hq DMV and get any custom built car inspected for street legality and a VIN and title applied to it. You can also legally change the make/model of the car as well as the VIN if you change a minimum of 10% of the vehicle. my cousin did that with a v6 silverado, got the title changed to H2H FrunkinGruvin (german word)

@sfplayer911 Concept cars such as the FR-S travel around to other promotional/automotive events. You will no doubt see this Scion FR-S Concept at other high-traffic events in the future. Once it has traveled to enough events, concept vehicles are often times placed in museums, etc. Just depends on the manufacturer too and what they want to do with the car.

i think this will be the car that saves scion. but i dont think scion should be around. just rebadge them all as toyotas. this car IS a toyota (new ae86) and i think toyota is making a very bad decision. this is an enthusiasts car and i bet they lost a lot of sales making that choice
