its not that Kobe didnt do anything, but Shaq was the main reason for those rings. triangle offense designed for the C position. & Shaq always went into the post. U dotn see Shaq on the outside of the perimeter trying to shoo jump shots or 3s. the only time Shaq didnt make it to the post was when he was too slow on a fast break or when he was on the bench. Shaq opened up the 3pt & jump shots as he was in the post. Kobe could drive in and either shoot or pass out to Shaq or 3pt shooters.

The triangle offense was originalyl created for the C position & Shaq was regarded as one of the most dominant Cs of all time. So Kobe did benefit and so did Shaq. But Shaq didnt need Kobe to draw the defense (he just needed outside shooters). Kobe needed Shaq more because he was no way near as dominant as Shaq.
