  • Hope they made good use of the flagstone...

  • Nice deep pool, the kind you don't see much anymore. Many are a wimpy 5 feet nowdays.

  • @HattieLovesCattie No, it's not your average sized resort/hotel pool. Many popular professional sports figures of the day were allowed to use the 'G' as their official training camps. It was built to accommodate Olympic style aquatic events (the high dive) that were frequently held at the 'G'. This one was the 4th Olympic sized pool ever built in this country.

  • @johniwan1 Interesting!!!! I would love to have seen the diving on film.I'm sure the other Olympic size pools were in Fla and Calif.

  • in response to "younger generation outgrowing" the catskills...it had nothing to do with the younger generation at all. Stop blaming the younger generation or someone else for that matter. It's the state government and the job situation that effected the Catskills. When a state goes from 2 percent taxes to 7 or 8 percent taxes, and when a pack of cigerettes is 9.00 a pack, then you can blame your state for the abandonment of such beautiful places gone downhill. That is why people leave NY.

  • what is flagstone?

  • @evilperson3596 Flagstone is what the large square/rectangular stone that surrounded the pool and made up the 'patio' is called.

  • I swam here in 1984. So sad to see what the pool has become.

  • I used to swim there too. That's what happened when the younger generation started traveling and "outgrew" the catskills. What a pity.

  • what is flagstone anyway????
