I don't know how the words of that poem translates to what you said because they dont... It sounds more about lovers who have been together for a VERY long time, and see that dull flame of desire, a flame that used to be very bright...despite all that, they LOVE that persons eyes, and how splendid and sparkling they look to them, even lowered, still feeling an embracing glance. That doesnt happen to people to people that fall in "love" everyday.
