This trailer is so sexist! The movie is great movie, but because the lead is a woman they have to sell it as she's a whore doing orgies with 6 men. WTF!! I am so glad I did not grow up in "The good old days" Messed up!!
I love worship and adore this movie my favorite part is The Lush Budget montage. "As I look back on it now, it all seems like one those big Hollywood movies all about love and what'll she wear next"
OMG I had forgotten how THIN Shirley was at this point in her life;she was going through a stressful marriage with long separations from her husband and child and hardly eating at all, and carrying on an affair with Robert Mitchum to ease her loneliness.
Its Shirley's show all the way--but boy did she have some handsome (and excessive) husbands who aren't bad either! One of the most hilarious movies ever--I remember watching it on tv in WI in the early 70's and laughing as a kid. One of my favorites
@Geotpf It's a total joke in the movie relating to one of her husbands. I'd tell you but no way of knowing if you'd pick it up for a view. It's totally worth watching though.
The giant champagne glass at 2:33 was used for the whirlpool scene in "Fantastic Voyage." Water jets around the perimeter created the swirling effect, while a tiny model of the submarine was dropped into the glass. The blood cells were several boxes of red-dyed Cheerios.
Shirley's wonderful, but may I point out that the marvelous Marilyn (Monroe) was initially slated for this role? After Marilyn was re-hired (after having been fired, by Fox) to complete "Something's Got to Give," Monroe was awarded the part of "Louisa" to be filmed after SGTG was completed. Marilyn would have shined here - sadly, it never happened (due to her passing) and, I believe, it puts to rest the "suicide rumours," as Marilyn was "over the moon" when she received this happy news.

@etienne818
I agree this part was perfect for Marilyn and would have re-ignited her career, making it red hot! What a shame she never got to make it.
Babyhowdy233 8 months ago
@Babyhowdy233 So glad she never got to make it. Talent wise, Shirley MacLaine had it all over MM.
