  • as long as there is a north and a south there will be people who had ancesters fight on both sides and died on both sides .people i see no wrong in having pride for your part of the country you are from. just dont look down your nosies at each other becoues we might still have to stand to getther and make a stand to make OUR country our forefathers fought and died for strong agine and it will take all of us to put it back on the right track!

  • I'm so Sick of this " City-slick Yankees" and "Redneck Rebels", I am personally a proud Southerner and Proud Future U.S Airman. But as for the Civil war we just had a fight like all brothers do, but for that war nothing describes it better than "When the Rich start a War, The poor die".

  • That is the reason why the Civil War saddens me. Brother against brother. Here is an example of brother against brother that particulary disturbs me. One Union soldier was fighting and he captured a Confederate soldier who he realized was his brother. As the captured brother was lead to the back of the Union lines he looked over his shoulder and saw his brother aiming at a Confederate in a tree. He then shouted: "Don't shoot James! That's papa!" That is a very sad example.

  • Beautiful song and an excellent video.

  • Let's all honor the wounded and fallen, those who spilled blood or lost their lives on fields sometimes far from their home, thoughts of their families flickering through their minds as they fell...Let's honor and think of them and send them our thanks.

  • i watched this movie and it was the best one i have ever seen

  • such a beautiful, powerful song. I know a few people have some disagreements about the North and South thing, but i bet we can agree on one thing... we BOTH love America, the land of the free and the home of the brave:)

  • Afew years ago I walked the fields of Gettysburg, including Pickett's Charge and Little Round Top. I was disturbed by the courage it must have taken for the soldiers in Blue and Grey, really all Americans to perform their duty.

  • Border City Bandit your an idiot the war was fought over 150 years ago let it go.

  • @wodkins I'm from England. I know nothing of the Gettysburg war, but what I can tell you is, no matter how long a war was, you can never let it go.

  • @iTzWolFmANz not letting something go is one of the reasons why this world is the way it is. If it is let go then our nation can move on. Look at it this way England has let go that the U.S declared our indepnedance from them and now the two nations are allies.

  • y'all all need to stop this bull shit. y'all ain't nothing but a bunch of angry little children. this is going for both sides.

  • I am probably 200 of these views no lie I love this song it is me and my pards reenacting song he is 13 and I am 14

  • we got this song on monday to sing in choir. i could not get past the first line without crying. i still cry. when my choir director said we were putting no emotion behind the song today i, my voice shook as we sang and tears poured from my eyes

  • Im a Texan and but I regret Texas seceding from the US after spending about 10 years trying to get anexed...All this couldve been avoided if slave owners had a heart...

  • I was born in Philadelphia (Penn) but I moved to Burlington (Tex) (and was raised there) ever since I was 6. So, in BorderCityBandit's oppinion, what am I ? A Yankee or a Rebel ? My mother was from Atlanta (Georgia), my father, God rest his soul, was from New Jersey and they met whilst in Tennessee ? As one can plainly see, I am both a Yankee and a Rebel. Cut the crap, Bandit !

  • Are we not all Yanks and Rebs from the moment we fought with England and became the one America which would one day fight, and then learn to forgive? Do not judge one another by where they were born in this country, for that country is OUR United States. Is that not enough?

  • Glory to the Union and may the Confederacy rest in triqual peace.

  • I was born in the south, but as long as your born in the u.s you are my brother yankee or reb you all my brothers.

  • Okay, i use to live in both the north and the south.. i've been in both worlds. There are people to blame on both sides, not all northerners are saying nasty stuff to southerners, and vice a versa. People should just realize that it was sad, our country was so patriotic, and then the turned on each other, that in itself is sad. This song was written because there actually WAS two bothers, and they killed each other over this stupid feud. its honestly sad...

  • southerners got what they deserved back then i never sed they deserve it now ill fight anyone to call me a yank im a full blood southerner well i once was im in PA now so fuck off im joining the Marines in in 4 years ill be snipingwith my fellow "brothers" no one is really brothers if anyone is we all are we all are related to some one who fought then dont tell me other wise so shut it♠♠♠

  • @jts199

"southerners got what they deserved back then"

You mean in the same way that men in the Continental Army got what they deserved in 1776?

  • i must apologize for my other comments even though they were not mine.... ive been off this account for a long time and i gave my friend permission to use it if he wanted...... looks like he was busy being a jerk on my account...... srry to anyone my idiotic friend pissed off

  • I am a true southern and if that was now i would be a rebel because the south was fighting for somthing they thought was right and i also think in a way its right {Not talken about slavery thats now what the war was about} but i still will say to this day rest the souls of south and north soilders they fought for somthing

  • @jayers2 I agree to a point. Slavery was one of the causes of secession. But Lincoln declared war to preserve the union, not to free slaves. In fact, his campaign stance on slavery was to stop the further spread of slavery, not to abolish slavery. Interesting note, the Confederate founding documents called for a stop to international slave trading. Abolition was a much needed and convenient byproduct of the North's victory. The main goal and reason for the war was to preserve the union.

  • @TubaRonald0910 In case you haven't heard, this "nation" is crumbling fast. New Hampshire is breaking away on one side of america,Texas is breaking away on the other. Just cause the first attempt to leave this shit hole didn't work doesn't mean the next one will fail to. Eventually,we shall be free from the north.

  • The winners get to write the history books to justify their sins. The war was not about slavery. It never was. Watch the scene in this movie where the two captured CSA guys are asked why they are fighting. Why would poor white non-slave owners go off to die for their rich neighbors' right to own slaves? It would be equivalent to a mom and pop store owner going to fight for Wal Mart's right to pay low wages and put all mom an pops out of business. It's not a realistic argument. Learn the truth.

  • @MandoThrasher While the war wasn't mainly about slavery, slavery WAS a cause of the war but not the only cause. Considering the politicians in the South were rich white slave owners you underestimate the racism that was prevelant throughout southern society back then. If you were white and poor, you were still above a black slave. Southeners, poor or rich, saw the abolition of slavery as a direct threat to their way of life. Plus poor whites were mainly uneducated, easy to shape and control.

  • @BorderCityBandit Yeah, an attitude like that definitely leads to reconciliation. If you refuse to venture north of the Mason-Dixon line, who's the coward now?

  • @Mare416 Hell i have been north and south and i think the north stinks and their aint nothing between the mason dixon line and canada but garbage.Who gives a shit to go north there aint even any jobs there now. Thanks honest ABE.

  • @Mare416 Refusing to have any thing to do with Yankee bastards is not cowardice.

  • @Mare416 Would that make BorderCityBandit "brave" if he goes north of the border, and is spoken of in horrible ways ("you call us horrible things"), has to put up with the insinuations that he (or other Southerners) "sleep with our sisters or cousins" or are a bunch of in-breds? Would that make him "brave"? DON'T YOU GET WHAT HE SAID??

No Mare416, we are not brothers. You yankees have seen to that.

  • @Mare416 he isn't being a coward, the war is over. Then why go north ;)

  • @Mare416 i somewhat agree with you Mare416, he BCB never questioned the north's courage. he was calling the north.... what is a good word........... ignorant perhaps? (i am from the north so......) but i agree with you on the rest

  • @Mare416 I know BorderCityBandit may have come of strong. But there is truth to his words. I have gone up north a many of times. As a matter of fact my base is in Fort Meade, Maryland. I don't disrespect anyone for the race, religion, nor their nationality, but while north of the Potomac I get made fun of for my accent for being from Virginia or just being from the south in general. and whats worse while in Virginia we have people who come up North and say the same shit on our turf.

  • @Mare416 There is nothing cowardly with what he is saying. I completely understand and feel his sentiments. I just wish people would quit poking fun at as for who we are and where we are from. so how can there be reconciliation with people who like to provoke us and insult us.

now i love America so much. I have had fought for this country in Afghanistan and i would be glad to do it again if ever order to. But sometimes i feel like i am only fighting for people who laugh at me for who i am.

  • @Mare416 i disagree with him, but he is semi right. what sort of union is it that half of it must be forced in at gunpoint?

  • @BorderCityBandit You are absolutely correct. And we were not brothers back then, we were two separate nations with two distinctly separate cultures, backgrounds, and languages. Not brothers, no sir.

  • @BorderCityBandit

Who says us yankees don't like you when we're the ones who re-enact your valiant soldiers? I re-enact the 36th Virginia Infantry Company B. And you're the coward for not wanting to come up north. You think you're country would have done better off if you had been left alone? When truth be told your country would not have done well at all. No offense.

  • Comment removed

  • @BorderCityBandit what the hell are you talking about its one damn country shouldnt we get along. anyways the southerners are the ones who treat norhteners bad.

  • @eavideocreations It has never been one Damn Country, even when I was growing up ,my family always tried to get along with everyone, but Northerns aways put us down.I seen it,I heard it,it even happen when I moved out to Colorado ,I was put down for being from the South.

  • @BorderCityBandit my real question is, how do you define a yankee? is it someone born north of the Mason Dixion line? that lives north? that is pro union when talking about the civil war? Then i ask you what was there ONLY 2 differences between the Constitutions of the CSA and USA? If you had your way and the CSA was able to separate from the Union this entire region would be far less stable and prosperous. As for some nefarious Northern plot to hold down the South? that is simple LUNACY.

  • @tzo2tweet think what you will ,as I have no control over that, nor do I desire any control.I didnt mention any plot,I simply stated fact, southerners being conquered people, the conquerors, get control of writing history and get to dictate how we are viewed, that is part of the boot on southern throats ,I STAND by what I said,if you cant grasp that, well thats not my damn fault,NOW is it.I dont wish to engage in a pissing match,.and I dont give a fuck how you take my post's ,

  • @BorderCityBandit I have lived in both the north and the south. Both before and after becoming a member of the Armed Forces of this GREAT NATION and i have never seen anything like that and on top of that I am directly related to Gen Lee's personal aide. I understand the southern view point, but since one of those 2 differences i talked about earlier was keeping the institution of slavery, i would have to say the southern premise was flawed in the extreme. Brave and fearless though they were.

  • @tzo2tweet southern premise flawed,I dont think so,you wanna talk flaws, thats everhything that has happened after 1865 till the present here in 2010, the federal tyranny we have today is a direct result of union victory,.and the yank boot on the southern throat, again I cant make you understand this, and yes you have all the right to your own opinion,as do I.I will never views yankees as my true brothers, that view is my right ,dont give 2 shits ,who dont Like it

  • @tzo2tweet The Civil War had next to nothing to do with slavery! The Yanks had slaves just like we did,and the blacks were better off that way to.They had a home, food, and clothing. Most slave owners weren't as mean as the North makes it out to be.The Noth wanted the south to pay more taxes and be like them, the South tried to leave because of that.Slavery was just a cover-up.

  • @Blackfang31

"the South fought on account of the thing we quarreled with the North about. I never heard of any other cause for quarrel, than slavery".

    John Singleton Mosby...CSA.

North did not have slaves...the USA census figures from 1860, which list slave/free populations by state and territory prove that.

If slavery wasn't so bad, go back in time, live under the institution, and then comment. Maybe you'll like it so much, you'll become one of those mythical Black Confederates.

  • @UnionStatesHeritage haha the "Mythical Black Confederates", i guess you can lump them into the same category as the Northern Armies that were sooo full of anti-slavery sentiment and Black rights and freedoms....wait i forgot they didnt exist. A northerner was just as likely to call a black man nigger and spit on him as a southerner. And by the way although there are very few legitimate, documented reports of Black Confederate soldiers they still existed unlike your mythical knowledge of history

  • @arnorva62

Funny thing about that...wherever US troops went, slaves were freed.

As I've already pointed out...whites in my home Commonwealth hid blacks from the ANV, during Lee's brief and disastrous occupation.

Not only that, we gave refuge to escaped slaves for decades prior to the war

Blacks who fought willingly for the CSA, are the African-American equivalent of French citizens who collaborated with the Nazis, during WWII.

  • @UnionStatesHeritage

Actually, that is wrong. The slaves in the union captured territory were still slaves.

Again, more ignorance (comparing the Confederacy to the nazis)

And in the census, they would be lifelong apprentices. A slave by any other name is still a slave.

  • @TheBoberton

Yeah, that's why 180,000 joined the USCTs.

Nope...as I've pointed out many times...The Cornerstone Speech was worthy of anything ranted by Hitler from a balcony in Munich.

Only in NJ, and an important point that Johnnies never discuss when using New Jerseys HANDFUL of apprentices for life. The NJ law gave those apprentices the right to demand financial support from their "owners".

How bout ANY state in the CSA?

  • @UnionStatesHeritage Yes,the "wonderful" USA census which was doubtlessly taken by the yanks wouldn't say that they had slaves would they?

The winner of a war writes the history on the war,so the truth is far from what you will read in history books,or in the census for this matter.

  • @Blackfang31

Typical Neo-Confederate logic. If the truth hurts, ignore it.

LOL...Census was taken BEFORE the war, dumbass.

  • @UnionStatesHeritage Well since your so smart, you will know that the North would have changed it after the war to knock of anyone who got nosy. You would also know that the census is voluntary, therefore no one HAS to take it.Most people DON'T take it.If a slave owner chose to not have his slaves accounted for, they would not be accounted for.

Gee,i can tell your soooo smart!

  • @Blackfang31

    Total BS.

Well dude, in just about every state in the North and Mid-west, if someone didn't account for his slaves, there was a good reason...slavery had been outlawed in those states for decades prior to 1860.

LOL...again...if you don't like the reality, just create your own.

WHO changed the data? Where's your proof that some shadowy conspiracy changed Civil War era records. Why stop there? Why is most of Civil War history DOMINATED by the pro-CSA viewpoint?

  • @BorderCityBandit You know I'm in the Army and a "Yankee" you could say. I served in Iraq and Afghanistan. All those dickheads that were trying to kill us over there only saw one thing, the American flag on our uniforms. They didnt give two shits about northern, southern, christian or not, or what race we were. In the military its all about taking care of whos to your left and right, nothing else matters. Your words are sad my friend, very sad.

  • @DeuceMP2 exactly if u read my last comment thats y i brought it up wen it comes to that no one cares about ur race, heritage, north, south, religion, or thoughts just the flag u fly. and thats how my uncle got killed we got his uniform because his family wanted nothing of it...hole in the middle of the flag on his chest. bandit hes right ur words r sad and u suck at life.

  • @BorderCityBandit Yankees only fought for what they thought was right what the thought was indeed was right slavery was indeed the wrong thing ever now we dont insult you people we are just saying that you guys wanted slavery and some still do want slavery and those are bad people. we wanted freedom even if we thought it was weird how the slaves were a different color. we lost a lot of good people not to be mean you guys lost a lot of bad people. southerners lost their lives for there rights ♠♠♠

  • @danniboy1231 Just exactly what the hell do you mean, that Southerners here in 2010, still want Slavery, motherfucker I was Born in the 70s ,post slavery ,post segregation,I have no problems with Black ppl or anybody else except uppity yankees ,Black Men are my brothers,Yankees will never be my brothers, especially if they still accuse me of wanting to enslave my fellow brothers, get it right asshole,I dont fucking support slavery of any fucking kind, and dont ever accuse me of that shit

  • @BorderCityBandit i never accused u of it i saw with my own eyes while i was in SC a white male scream at a black male (who was skin and bones) to go get the trash and wen they went back inside i heard a crack and a scream so it was a whip hitting most likly the black male this is danniboy1231 btw i once lived in SC so yeah i am or once was your brother so dont call me a yankee i used to be a southerner so fuck you u asshole♠♠♠

  • @BorderCityBandit Insulting people according to their place in the country is just weak hearted sectionalism. Most Americans take pride in their nation as a whole. Though people do tend to make quick remarks of where they're from in this great land but only a select vain few make their lives about insulting or making fun of Americans according to where they're from.

  • @BorderCityBandit No its because people like you who do not whant to have

a brotherhood. Its been a over a hundread years I was born in the south

and I am willing to forgive, So we may have lost but we will rise again.

  • @BorderCityBandit I have lived in the north my entire life, and have never heard anyone say anything bad about the south, without it being in relation to a specific event, and then it was about the event, not the place. I have friends who intend to go south for college, and I have ventured to Georgia. I have family who have lived in both the north and the south. In many ways I wish I lived in the south, but I'm not a fan of particularly hot weather. We are less divided than you may think.

  • Hate to tell ya this, seeing as your definitely off your rocker, but most of the insinuations of incest are about people in west virginia usually, which, if you know anything about that Mason-Dixon Line, (which I am guessing in reality you don't) its NORTH of that line. On top of that, there hasn't been a "Yankee Boot on the throats of southerners" Fact is, Yankees don't exist past playing baseball anymore. There is no more mason-dixon line. We are united. Take a step up north, its the same here

  • @BorderCityBandit were you dropped on your head as a child? :/ sorry you just seem special and not the good kind of special i mean like you seem like you rode the short bus

  • @entei41308 if I did ride the shortbus, you can best bet, your little mealy mouth candy ass was on the son of a bitch too, Ive noticed the troll activity picking up on youtube lately, maybe its the solar flare heading towards us, maybe just yall being eat up with the dumbass.troll take your shit elsewhere, if I thought you where serious,Id track you down and stomp a mudhole in ya candy ass and walk the son of a bitch dry, just by. your enlighened retort ,should be mildly amusing

  • @BorderCityBandit LOL bring it on retard you dont scare anybody all you are is an ignorant buffoon k?

  • @entei41308 well asshole, My reply to your ignorant post ,was my BRING on,it has already been Brought ,if you wanna meet and beat the fuck outta each well come to Texarkana,Tx ,specifally on the Texas side of Stateline Avenue,,maybe near Interstate 30 ,send me a message ,I could be up thier in 20 minutes and we could coomence to beating the shit out of each other,tHE BALL is in your court asshole, Ive called out 50 people in the last 3 years out YT,no 1 has answered the challenge

  • @BorderCityBandit nono you said you are going to track me down and kick my ass and i wanna see you try :)

  • @entei41308 Boy ,I called your ass out,I gave you the city I live in,a STREET to meet up in.and Begged you to set up a time, your response lets me know you are afrraid, you are no different than the 50 other motherfuckers I called out on youtube over the last 4 years. and guess what ,Not a one of them ,took me up on it,You seem to be no different,You see I love when I EXPOSE cowards,I gave my personal details, so you could come whoop my ass,and you are backing down, thats good,,I knew U would

  • @BorderCityBandit nono im not backing out i just want to see you live up to your word

  • @entei41308 I aint got time 2 fool with you anymore, actually your trolling is quite entertaining,as for my word,I upped the anty ,I gave my personal details,You are obviously afraid,at someone crazy enough to give personal details on a youtube channel, its painfully apparent that Im dealing with a Garden variety Troll.,we had our fun, we tore into each other,I issued a challenge that has gone unaccepted, well I take that as a personal victory,Although somehow I knew you'd never accept

  • @BorderCityBandit i am obviously curious to see how you will go about carrying through your word you challenged and said that you would track me down. now do it or you are a coward. you arent crazy you are just unintelligent sorry bud

  • @entei41308 you are troll and nothing more, the very fact ,that you wont even address my challenge to you, lets me know, you are the coward,I called you out,I gave my personal details.,to meet so we could kick others ass,or kill each other or whatever, you by not addressing my challenge ,further, let me know that trolls are not worth my time, you repeatedly wont even refer to my challenge,Im done with you,and have a nice troll life,

  • @BorderCityBandit no im just pointing out how all of your threats are empty and you want to seem smarter and more competent than you are

  • @entei41308 let me appeal to your ego ,you WIN ,I give in,you win the debATE ,I concede.have a nice life trolling on youtube,I'll be the better man, and exit stage left, this is my last reply

  • @BorderCityBandit you arent giving in because you are the bigger man you are giving in because you know you are an idiot

  • @BorderCityBandit dude get over yourself there is no yankee boot on the southern throats. Your a complete idiot.

  • @BorderCityBandit People up here in PA don't give a flying shit about 150 years ago... you don't see "yankees" talking about how we should have killed all of the southerners and how we should have burned the south to the ground...

We were always united my friend, from the American Revolution, 1812, Mexican American war on.

and I still do not understand how you can honestly think we never were united...

  • @xWhocaresxX Yeah, but PA ain't the South. You guys won in the end, but you had to keep us in the Union by the point of a bayonet. Is that a Union worth preserving?

  • @BorderCityBandit as a southerner i will say we are one nation now. i am a confederate reenactor for God's sake, but I can with all formality, GET OVER IT

  • @BorderCityBandit Tell that to the boys from Pennsylvania And Virginia, Maine and Carolina that stood shoulder to shoulder on small crafts waiting for the ramp to go down; when it did all hell broke loose. But they band together, just like the paratroopers did the night before and just as thousands of American soldiers, north and south, have band together since and before the Civil War; they band together and defeated a common enemy. You are a fool and most likely a coward.

  • @BorderCityBandit i agree with you completely my southern brother

  • @Mrclawhammerbanjo his statement may be true but we are united

  • Who sings this song? and what is the name of this song?

  • @kurounue13 The song is Brother my Brother, and it's from the musical "The Civil War"

  • Nor Was I Born in the South!!!! To say that the Southern cause was illegitimate because of slavery, then one must be consistent and concur that the U.S Revolution of 1776 was illegitimate because they too at the time had slaves, and viewed them as the property they didn't want taxed without representation. The south wanted to be independent from the Federal Government. It was a Just cause. A just causes might be lost on the battle field, but never in the arena of ideas!

  • @IslandersMets10 Bad analogy. The south had every right to resent northern aggression and unfair taxation and tariffs. But their cry of "States Rights" was basically about the "right" to own slaves so they could continue to run their huge plantations, which they could never have afforded to run without them. Just because they can't afford to run a big spread with paid labor is not good enough reason to want to own a human being. NO SLAVERY, NO MATTER WHAT! The war was about slavery alright

  • this video makes me tear up everytime i watch it. I hope nobody ever has to go through what these men went through during this war. May this country be together forever. This was a terrible war. RIP all the billy yanks and all the johnny rebs

  • wow haha i understand

  • im not a fan of music videos with Gettysburg but i do gotta say i give ya 2 thumbs up on this one, great job, rebel for life, n my dad a Yankee for life, yet we get along...for the most part lol and wat hilsenberg said are true words "slavery was not the issue of the war in the 1860s throughout the war it was about money land and power over who gets what land" very true words my friend

  • "the South fought on account of the thing we quarreled with the North about. I never heard of any other cause for quarrel than slavery". John Singleton Mosby CSA

  • @topgundave1981 No. NOT true. I'm getting so sick of the semantics that have always been applied to the argument over what, exactly, the Civil War was fought over. Sure, the north was overly aggressive toward the south. There are no angels here. But make no mistake--the "States rights" they fought over were precisely the "right" to own slaves. Let's go to the bottom line here. You can't own a human being. NO MATTER WHAT!!!! Need doesn't make right. Slavery was wrong and it was the issue

  • @topgundave1981 By the way...I WAS born in the south, but I'm smart enough and honest enough to be able to go directly to the bottom line here--forget all the mercantile and fiscal reasons for the south to legitimately resent the north. Bottom line here was that the southern economy was predicated upon free labor--it's called slavery, and there will BE no goddamned slavery in the human race if decent people have anything to say about it. States' rights, indeed. Puhleeze.

  • *sobs*

  • no more no more i dont want Death :'( no more:"(

  • rip

  • may their soul rest in peace

  • @junkrai Hello,

There is a great new book out titled: GETTYSBURG… OTHER TIMES

It is a great page-turning read and full of intrigue and revelation.

You can get your copy from my YouTube site (GETTYSBURGbook) or search Amazon or eBay.

  • finally well said to the user of csaboy27 I fly my Confederate Flag every single day I just like the South but slavery was not the issue of the war in the 1860s throughout the war it was about money land and power over who gets what land I fly my flag everywhere I go and yet I'm not even Southern I was born here in USA Ca and have no one in the Civil War it could be possible recarnation I look just like General Lee Commander in Chief of the whole Confederate Army of Northern

  • Welcome to "OUR" world. They judge you from your screen name.

Nor was I born in the South.

  • @hilsenberg2010 Don't kid yourself. Don't be fooled by the buzzword "States' Rights." Sure, it was about states' rights--and the principal right the south was making its point over was the right to own slaves. We can expand this thing to include Northern aggression (yes, they were aggressive toward the south), and make it about unfair taxation and tariffs, but bottom line, my friend, is that the south fought for the right to be left alone to own its slaves. Sorry--no slave ownership allowed

  • i just got back from watching the musical and it's so worth going to.

  • my senoirs are doing this for there lyrical song its so beatiful

  • "Once there was a land full of Cavaliers and Cotton Fields, called the Old South. Where gallantry took it's last bow. Look for it no more, for it is written only in books.... a civilization ~~~~~~~~~"Gone With The Wind".

  • Every time I hear this song, I cry. People don't understand that this war was the single most bloody war in the history of our country because, no matter which side had the most casualties, they were ALL Americans.

  • you are exactly right. I'm a re-enactor, and I'm constantly trying to remind people, that this war wasn't glamorous or anything, it was a vicious bloody war, resulting in death and destruction, and as you said, we were all Americans, however you do have to look at the difference between the North and South at the time, though we were all

    Americans, we were worlds apart

  • Still are.

  • very true, the scars of that war have still never healed

  • And they probably never will. In fact, the healing of those scars would be a terrible thing for America. So, let us remember them with pride, reverence, and sadness.

  • agreed

  • @Mare416

ditto. but also, despite the differences, we're all still people. hell, i've wanted fucking kill any bastard who did me some sort of wrong. whether or not it would be right is what has held me back every time. i can't bring myself to do unjust harm upon another human simply because they bother me. it may be cowardly, but i'm proud to be a coward. i guess it depends upon the person. i'm not picking sides of the North or the South, i'm just saying my two cents.

  • @csaboy27 Very well said Nate. I'm constantly trying to remind people of the same thing. North, or South. We're all Americans at heart. We all fought together to get our Independance from Great Britain. People fail to see that now. We were all American brothers at one time and we still are.
