what would be nice is a standalone rotation sensor for Pf and other motors that do not have any. we had these back in the rcx days. but a new one is needed with better resolution, oh and studdless too.
Ya, I remeber the old rcx days, I actually used the old fiber-optics for rotation sensors by detecting pulses, but it was same as old rotation sensors at about 8 pulses per rotation.
testing mechanicals here is all PF(IR)8channel rc. i only have one hand set from lego but each two stick controler has 4 channels. the nxt in this film is for ballast and possition. it could run the drive and shift parts opening 3 ports from the PF.
i wish mindsensor would take on this to build a SMALL spot location rotation sensor. the size of the next motors is much to big for multi motor things. these new PF series are very well made for a toy.
Yes, the first articulation(on the body) is 1/2 of a Foot/hip and the second articulation is the Knee from my other project X2, the gripper head is new design.
Mostly it is a hobby(I love to design and build things) Lego TechNic and MindStorms is by fare the least costly to build from.
Many universities use Lego for this very reason. Since the main brick is programed you can add many sensors to this. (next step for me is to add sensors and see how autonomous i can get)
@222Doc Pretty nice Job.I am a lego mindstorm maniac builder too.Its an indefinite hobby I guess.I've built a similar lego arm that weighs 3.5 Kg.Although I've created its program, I still need enough time to watch it in action.These days i am going to have my first test.If everything goes well I am going to post a video sooner or later.Cya bro
What motors did you use for the tracks?
zimvaider 1 year ago
@zimvaider Two Lego Large PF.

the weight of an arm this long with a full soda can will tip over if the weight of the main body is not enough. Good question.

EXCELLENT project as always!!! Really impressed by its complexity and functionality. Superb!

Very impressive! HUGE! I noticed muti-speed transmittion also! May I recommend Nxt port splitter by mindsensors for all the sensors you will need!

I have some questions if ya dont mind.
What are you using to control it?
Is it one nxt and pf battery pack?

are u using the knee and leg construktion for the arm?

does it serve any functions or is it just an educating experiment? 5/5
