  • I love this song, thanks for posting this great praise song!

  • Our little Catholic Church choir in the South Bx. sangs this song(not sings but sangs!) Go St. Augustines

  • My choir and I see thinking about doing a throwback Anniversary this year. This might be one of the songs.

  • I remember this song as a child, and I love it.

  • Even today this is still one of my favorites.

  • Still 1 of the greatest songs!!!!

  • This song is guranteed to get atleast half of the congregation on their feet

  • I was a new christian when this first came out. It really taught me a lot about prayer.

  • 3:21 3:16

  • this song still has the power to get the people to shouting on a sunday morning

  • An awesome song no matter how old!

  • Awesome.

  • Although Im only 29 I find myself going back to this type of gospel. Considering it was recorded before I was born. I've taught this to my choir recently and my church loves it. So glad I found it online! Thanks for the post:)

  • Our choir is getting ready to do this song. I am going to play the guitar not the bass. I have to study this one, and make the progression fit.

  • This song just drives the powerful name of JESUS at you until it's felt in body, soul and spirit...."If you believe on the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, CALL HIM UP!" Indeed, you will "call Him up" after singing this black gospel anthem--because you "just can't stop praising His name!" Praise God for this classic!

  • They were jammin' from the start of the song! true old school!! My God

  • I was real little when I first heard Keith Pringle perform this song in Detroit. It was on Grand Blvd across the street from Henry Ford Hospital and anyone from Detroit would know that is down the street from Hitsville USA(Motown). It was in 1981.

  • @partyman090909 REPRESENT YOUR SET, BROTHA! Detroit is in the house.

  • PRECIOUS PRECIOUS MEMORIES

  • Love this song..I miss this so much! The new "gospel" isn't anything like the old stuff!

  • yeah I remember singing this song too. just when it seems like it should end it cranks up again. My heart is welling up. ... We use to have a brother/ Choir director named gary howard. dynamic director he was. He use to shout really hard. But he was real. i remember hearing his voice, my moms voice, my aunts voices. i remember losing my voice singing this song. My hands are sweating.

  • Wow i luv this song....... i'm only 15 lol but my grandma has this album

  • WOW...so glad that I ran across this. I used to sing this in the choir and now sometimes find myself just randomly singing it:-). Awesome song that gives my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ praise. God's love and blessings to all.

  • a great song I used to sing as a choir member when I was a teenager! HAHA! Takes me back in time a bit! Great song even now! "Call Him Up!!!"

  • I just can't stop praisin his name Jesus! Man I love this song! I miss hearing it so much, I wished I knew where I could find it and buy it again my album got broken, is there a CD available. Thank you for posting this. God Bless You.

  • Yeah, this song is a classic and would rock the church with the many different variety of 'rounds' that were done. Oh, and not to mention the "slammin" drum and tambourine accompaniments.

  • This song has torn up a many chior stands.

  • @2777724 lol yes it has!

  • That's some good old school piano playing there. I remember my mom had this on an LP when I was little. Loved it then, love it now!

  • I always admired the musicians on this song. I think this is one of the best collaborations of musicians on a live performance. The vocals are unforgettable as well.

  • looks like dr dolittle

  • I'm glad I finnally found the original version!

  • Even without Religion, we'd have wars, maybe even more wars, because hatred would still exist. Don't believe me, just ask the people of Rawanda, where one tribe treid to exterminate another tribe, not over religion, but over hatred that goes back centuries. The human heart, my friend, leads to war, and only God can bring true peace, love, and forgiveness. Study history without your bias and you'll see.

  • NeckClippaA, these are all conditions of the human heart: the "Sin Nature". Even the so called "Reliugious Wars" were not caused by the religion. The people involved were using religion as a PRETEXT , or excuse, to furthere their own ends: to gain lands, money and power. They disobeyed the very religion that they professed to serve. Christ said to love your enemies, and pray for them. Those who kill in "his name" are breaking his commandments. It's not religion that causes war,(continued)

  • NeckClippA, the Spanish-American war was not over religion, but over power, WW 1 was not religion but over power nad economics, WW 2 was not over religion, but was started by Japan wantiong lands and natural resources, and Hitler wanting land, power, and to destroy those he considered "subhuman",(hatred). The Korean war wqas not over religion, but over power and control, as was the war in Vietnam,(both the French and Americans). Do you see the pattern here? Power, control, and hatred.

  • enjoyed singing this song with our Majestic Choir in the mid-90's I used to attend Ben Hill United Methodist Church, at the time, Keith Wilson and Jarvis Wilson were directors

  • illvu this song because i just ca't stop praising his name going through or not going through i still call him up

  • this song rem, inds me of singing in the Bahamas Baptist Mass choir nassau Bahams duriong the time when Betrum Brown was with us, before he went home to be with lord, I WISH THESE DAYS COULD COME BACK

  • JESUS IS KING !!!

  • It never fails, I cannot listen to this song without being totally overwhelmed by the power of the Holy Spirit. I had to just let that praise out in my kitchen a minute ago. The kids had to move out the way.

  • It never faul

  • What's funny is that we consider this old school gospel. I was very heavily involved in gospel music when this came out the early 80s. It was considered cutting edge and contemporary at the time. Every choir in the DC area was doing this song.

  • THE BIBLE SAYS, GOD IS A SPIRIT AND THOSE WHO WORSHIP HIM SHALL WORSHIP HIM IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH. SO HIS SPIRIT IS HOLY. I.E. HOLY SPIRIT. THE WORD GHOST IS AN OLD ENGLISH WORD THAT ISNT A GOOD DEFINITION.

  • I remember when Malaco Records use to advertise gospel music on tv and this one of them. 1981 or 82

  • does anyone have guitar chords for this song? need for this coming Sunday

    God Bless !

  • Thank you for this post. I have always loved this song. This was one of the first songs I directed when I was in the Young Adult Choir at my church. But if anybody out there can help me, there was a song entitled, "I Know It For Myself" that I could have sworn I saw Keith Pringle & PCC sang years ago on Rev. Ike's program. I have only ever heard one other choir sing it. Does anybody remember this? If you do, please help me. I would love to find it at all possible. Once again, Great Post!

  • OMG!!! I LOVE THIS SONG! I USED TO LISTEN TO IT ALL THE TIME!

  • Praise the LORD! Call Him up!!!

  • I love this song and the words are sooo true! Just can't stop praising HIS name, JESUS!!!

  • I remember back in the 80's when the members of my small church would rehearse this song weeks prior to us singing it at our sister church anniversity. We would take the subway from the Bronx to Bedstuy Brooklyn to perform it in a Holiness Church. It was 12 of us singing this song in front of 300 peoplein that store front church. The spirit would catch us everytime, that by the end of the song, the whole church was shouting and dancing in the spirit.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG CALL HIM UP YES!!!

  • Wonderful...wonderful...wonderful....

  • THERE IS POWER IN THIS SONG. PRAISE JESUS!!!

  • My choir used to sing this song, I direct the choir then, before Hurricane Katrina took away everything and our Pastor passed away and the house of prayer was sold to another congregation. But the song is still in my heart. I just can't stop PRAISING HIS NAME ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! The storm may have taken the material things from me, but it did not take away my PRAISE OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, YEAH ! ! !

  • Ain't nobody mad but the devil with that one dislike!

  • Man i was 5-6 years old when my parents got this record. i still get goosebumps everytime i hear it like i was in that apartment we lived in back then. Those were the "Good Times" right there.

  • I remember singing this song years ago. It's just as power now as it was then. Our church was "on fire" EVERY time we sang this song. I miss this type of music. I have just been made Minister of Music at my new church and we are bring this spirit filled music back!!!

  • @dannis73 .....Thanks!!

  • Wait a minute, just who are you? Where you on my choir? You seem to post all of our old tunes. I am amazed at what I am finding. Hadn't searched before. The more I search, the more I find. These are just awesome. So many. Thanks for allowing me to go down memory lane so many times. Feels real good. They don't make sounds like these anymore. These artists were fantastic.

  • Praise Him!

  • There should be a dislike on this video!!!!

  • @crystylz78 why?

  • This is a classic and will no go out! We sing this as is, we mix it with other songs. I remember when we sang it we had hand gestures and the neighborhood kids would sing it just to do the hand gestures. When I am in my car and it comes on the radio, I have to pull over because I have to sing and praise God! I know we sing this for about 15-20 minutes and will be have sweat dripping but to me, that is authentic worship and praise! Worshipping Him for who He is and praising Him!

  • I have loved this song since it first came out! I remember singing this in the choir and sometimes it went on for about 15 or 20 min. We would try to sit down but the church couldn't stop praising His name and we just kept it going. We would be so hot and sweating when we finished but we didn't care because it was all to the glory of God! The whole church couldn't stop. I tell you I just can't stop, I can't stop.....I could go on and on. You all be blessed!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanx

  • I remember listening to this in my grandmoms car when I was 5 i had a rough year with the death of my parents, 1999 i heard this and that is why I sing in the church and school choir. Call him up. Jesus is good. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME AND ALL THE TIME GOD IS GOOD

  • Our choir at my church as a young person use to sing this and there wouldn't be a sitting person after this song was over, even the musicians would be shouting. I love it I love it

  • Man, these were the days when you could set up a few mics in a church, and do a recording...that sold. No autotune, no real post-production, no overdubbs...just having church, and letting folks in on it. Great stuff. Thanks for posting.

  • This is soul stirring gospel right here! This song pulls you right out of your chair!

  • Great praise music! I can listen to this over and over.

  • The first time I heard this song is when U of Arkansas Pine Bluff's band played this in 1998. Year later I played it with them.

  • my choir sings this 1 sometimes. i wish they would sing it more. i have a hard life but this song always lifts me up. :)

  • the choir at my church used to sing this all the time... it would go on forever... can't stop praising his name..

  • I just turned my life over to the lord and I'm loving every moment of it!

  • Love this song!!!!!!! Reminds me of my teenage years singing in the youth choir.

  • Is there a video of this version with the live choir singing it? If so could you provide the link?

  • There is a church I go to for Easter mass and midnight mass on Christmas that sings this song and i LOVE IT!

    Christ is Risen Alleluia!!

  • Love It

  • This song has such appropriate lyrics! Because when you sing this song, you just "can't stop" praising His name!

  • Good song to listen to all the time

  • This song is one to listen when your day is not going so good it lifts your spirit

  • Man I forgot how much i loved this song!! It NEVER gets old!!

  • we brought this song back up.....NC Mass Choir....look out.

  • In 1981 I left behind a life of drugs, alcohol, and violence thanks to the Lord Jesus christ. I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost ( Holy spirit to you Harvard grads LOL), While this song was being sang at a Church camp. Praise the Lord from whom all blessings flow!

  • @MrSeeker77

Praise the Lord. Beautiful testimony. I hope to say the same one day.

  • @rdmo83 , you said you hope to say the same, well I'll pray that you will recieve what you need from the Lord. whether it's deliverance from an addiction, or the indwelling of the Holy Ghost!

  • @MrSeeker77 PRAISE THE NAME OF JESUS!!! WHOM THE SON SETS FREE, IS FREE INDEED!!!!!! HALLELUJAH!!!!

  • @MrSeeker77 HONEY...GOD IS GREAT...awesome testimony!!!!

  • @MrSeeker77 you have a testimony

  • @MrSeeker77

God Bless You! You joined the right "crew".

  • @MrSeeker77 that was YOU! youre the one who changed your life! dont let no fictional character from an old book take credit for what YOU are capable of! peace.

  • @NecKClippA , You say it was ME, that changed my life, yet you've never met me, and meaning no disrespect, you know not of what you speak!. You mean well in giving me the credit, but you're sadly mistaken in both counts: that I changed my life on my own, and that Jesus Christ is fictional. There is a God, and yes, he loves you. I pray that one day your eyes will be opened, and you'll realize the truth.

  • @MrSeeker77 the truth is: Religion inprisons people. Spirituality sets them free...

we are all separated by race, religion and much more. dont give someone else credit for what you have accomplished! religion has been the cause for loads, if not all wars we have had. and we need to start seeing ourselves as one, we need to start helping each other a love yourself and everything. Dont beleive in a religion. BELEIVE IN YOURSELF.

  • @NecKClippA You say that Religion is the cause of most, if not all wars, but if you'd take the time to study hsitory without your pre-concieved bias, you'd find that you're misatken. For example the wars that England fought against Spain and France in the 1500's-1800's was not abput religion, but about lands, power, and control. The American Civiol war was not religion, but about power and control: over either people(slavery) on one side, or govt. power(federal power) on the other side.

  • it's great!!

  • Will love this to my dying day! Thanks for posting!

  • wow! yes...classic, takes me back

  • This is when gospel music was at it's best and God was please with the type of music being sung. Today's gospel music is hard to seperate from the world. Thanks for posting.

  • Sounds kinda disco to me ?

So how can you say God is not pleased with todays Gospel ?

There is no gospel G minor & secular f Sharp chord or gospel beat ! its what you sing & the message you bring !

DO BE AFRAID TO BE CURRENT ! THIS WOULD HAVE SOUNDED WORLDLY IN 1981

Dont try & limit God to our veiws & understanding i remember when (synthesizers) keyboards where frowned upon by the church.

God saw the invention of the keyboard & modern music from the begining !!!

But yes this is a classic

  • Old school, gospel....at it's best!

  • man they played this in church today and every body jumped up!

  • HE IS MY FAV! lOVE THE OLD SCHOOL!!! THANKS FOR POSTING!!
