I was forced into being sterilized just because I had Asperger's Syndrome and seizures (my dad and the doctor said it would be for another reason, to get treatment for acne but I think my dad just didn't want me to reproduce because in his eyes, I'll just never be perfect enough for him) He said when I get married, I could adopt but who is he to plan my life for me? He's the one who scared me into getting sterilized in the first place. Now I'm lonely and childless and it's all b/c of him

It took two tries to do the procedure but i fought my way out of the first (I was 18 during the first time) I wasn't given much of a reason just that i needed another form of birth control besides abstinence to get a certain medicine for my acne (this medicine of course didn't work so the procedure was pretty much for the sake of fixing me just to fix me) I wasn't given a say in the matter though legally i did but my dad was breathing down my neck

@RunninQHsRock But I work in the child care field and the kids love me! I love being around kids. I even have two little cousins on both sides of the family! I wouldn't dream of being emotionally distant because that's not who I am! When I'm at work, I get more hands on learning about kids than what some book or video can teach me, I get to interact and play with them. I nearly cried out of joy today at work b/c it felt good that the kids wanted to be around me and I wanted to be around them.

A nurse (who worked at a low budget clinic i was referred to by my health insurance provider (the state) suggested it. Dad's original plan was to have me get a hysterectomy but we were told I was too young plus I was also against it. My mom lives in Arkansas and I couldn't tell her b/c dad didn't want me to. recently I told my grandparents

It's how nature works, and as you said 'It's all about the survival of the fittest', which is exactly what happens in nature, including the human race. 'Weaker' ones are unable to reproduce and the fittest do, so it's best to leave nature take it's course, lest the human race lose it's humanity, the very thing that sets it apart from all other species. Forced sterilization is inhumane.

The Family Planning Act of 1970 PL 91-572 was used to forcibly sterilized Native American women and other women of poor and minority communities, thank George Bush senior! This program is funded through tax payer dollars. The women would go in for any medical condition and then they would not be told they are getting sterilized, just treated.
