Lol i made a smoke grenade yesterday with postassium nitrate and sugar. The thing was a legit flare like the one in this video. it lasted for like 2 minutes tho, made a shit load of smoke and melted alluminum foil!!! the thing was 1 inch in diamter and 1/2 a inch high, so it was madd small too. it was like a torch
The way it was set up, that was a perfect burn time. Now, when concentrated, shaped and constrained in the rocket, it would burn slower and it would propel the rocket much harder.
I bought it off of ebay. I got 5 lb for $22. Good luck. Let me give you a tip... if you accidently leave the batch cooking for like 45 minutes, don't, under any circumstances light it while its on the pan. The explosion will be 15xs bigger that the one in the video and you will probably burn half your eyebrow off... like me.

Melted 100g of pottasium nitrate with 50g of sugar, 18g of light corn syrup and 1/3 cups of water

Burn rate increases under pressure. It will burn much faster in a rocket, not slower. I've made the recrystalived sutuff too, it works great.
