First. I am not gay and very straight (love women) but I have to admit that if you look at this song through the eyes of a "human being" rather than a gay (lesbian, tv, whatever) one will find "we" are not very different at all and we basically have the same fears and desires. Thank you Mr. Almond for your beautiful interpretation of this great song (previously made famous by Mr. Charles Aznavour) which sheds light on a human being's right to select his own sexuality.

I couldn't agree more mate and I'm a straight bloke too (twice married). How anyone can try and dictate how and to whom people should make love beggars belief. I first heard this song sung by a drag queen called Candy du Barry back in the 80's in an east End of London pub. It's such a powerful song and the words sum up the pain that gay blokes must go through, and thoughts they have to consider. Finally, I think Marc Almond delivers this song with so much passion - excellent !
