For the record, what...how...ok the Resolute really just took belly shots by what, six Municifents? What the hell did they build her out of? Another thing, it just cracks me up, those Lucrehulks seem just too damn big to be proper. And do note that their spheres are the best target in all of life. Just ram it and the whole ship is kaput! However, I seriously don't see enough of them actually shooting a Republic vessel. Like in a real engagement.

@DarthUltronicus it can take those belly shots cuz the bottom is has more armor, in gravity the bottom supports the ship so there has to be more armor down there.

- they can take that many shots because the animators say so i guess + the classic good guy fights better than the bad guy

- you dont see them shooting because lucrehulks are massively more powerful than most republic cruisers in combat so they always have the jedi come in and save the day by exploiting some weakness. and conveniently dont show any combat including them because they cant show good guys taking more casualties than the bad guys as in all star wars movies or shows

@akohler16 even then, if you keep count during the movie the empire takes more casualties, i mean the rebels lost a few soldiers but the empire loses entire at-at walkers. plus the same thing with the ships happens, some convenient method comes along so they can get past one of the most powerful ships of the time without any serious casualties (or in that case none at all)

So what you want for normal life stuff, but it is extremely useful in war. So you don't do things like double back during an attack to save one guy and get your whole squadron shot into high orbit chaff.

dude without a doubt the arc 170 still pwns every fuckin other fighter out there it is the eptime of the all purpose fighter. even its predecessor the x-wing couldnt compete. 2 weeks of consumables hyperdrive rating 1.5 (better than most cruisers) and 3 man crew plus astromech droid and last but not least enough ordance 2 level a city and captain jag is an effin beast. so is oddball.

The ARC-170 Was built for hard and fast attacks on enemy fighters or ground emplacements, though faced with a cruiser or two covered with anti-fighter guns, such as the ones in this episode, the ARC would have failed hard. Asoka made the right choice using Fighter-Bombers in an attempt to quickly hit the main ship, although she failed when she was swarmed by droid fighters.

@1993Conner Sorry to tell you, but thoes dual cannons on the rear wouldnt help much when a swarm of fighters are coming at you from the front. "Dog fighting" would pretty much do the opposite of helping, since they had Anti-Air cannons firing at them at full power and their job was to take out the cruisers. Plus the ARC was still an elite fighter at this time, not the standard issue. Not every fleet would have them at the ready for any situation.

@JohnIsUber247 omg go 2 wookiepedia and look it up. the arc 170 excelled when surrounded by smaller and faster fighters. and thats all that happened in this video and most the time the vultures were behind the v-19s. also the arc 170s forward facing cannons and proton torpedo launchers would hav mopped the floor with those vultures. regardless of whether or not it was available she still had other better options for an offensive against capital ships and frigates.

@1993Conner Again, I did go to wookiepedia and researched it. When it claimed it was "Excelled when surrounded by smaller and faster fighters." It was suggesting the scene from the beginning of Episode 3 when there had to clear the path for Obi-Wan and Anakin. But as you can see from that scene, enough fighter damage and Anti-Air cannons on nearby cruisers would have taken them down. Oh and they didn't have time to stop and take down the fighters, since their maine objective was the cruisers.

If you were paying attention to Episode 3 instead of reading facts straight off a Wiki page you would understand that enemy fighters and cruiser fighters easily take down ARCs if they are flying in a straight line towards their target. When Obi Wan and Skywalker had backup from a platoon of ARCs the fighters barely escorted them towards the main flagship, being shot down after a few seconds of fire from the cruiser's guns and fighters. Anyone can post shit on Wiki.

@1993Conner Who the hell said anything about it only being from a movie? I merely said under thoes circumstances that were in the movie would be the same as this episode. They needed to fly as quick as possible, in a straight line, towards the enemy and bomb the hell out of them. They didnt have time to meneuver or dogfight, let alone have any plan at all. The fighters would barely make it to the enemy. Superior shielding doesnt mean its freaking invincible. Go read the books instead of comics.

Again, ARCs dont last more than a few moments in direct enemy fire with no evasive maneuvers, all they were doing was flying in a straight line in this episode. I really don't see how an ARC would make any difference, except for the fact the price tag would have been larger to replace them.

@1993Conner If they were flying in a straight line, just like in this episode, it doesnt matter what kind of shielding they had. The cruiser's guns where made for attacking other cruisers, which had way more shielding than any fighter could have. The ARC'shields were meant for taking more fire from enemy fighters so they can dogfight and last longer than other fighters. And the enemy fighters were swarming in from the front then attacking Anakin's cruiser, not tailing them.

@1993Conner I never said an astromch is a downside. It seems many people are disagreeing with you, and I would suggest you get your replies right. And thoes two guns on the back you are talking about are aimed by a gunner, ships flying past are pretty much impossible to hit, along with your fire might hit your own allies aswell, since there are more fighters following behind. And ARC were pretty expensive and rare, I doubt Asoka would have the clearance to order them at her every will.

@JohnIsUber247 You dont understand that with 10 to 15 ARC-170's there would have been enough fire power to take out the fighters and do dammage to the capital ships. Also Venator Class cruisers cary literaly hundreds of fighters and bombers so if they deploy another squadron or two of Torrents equiped with conn. missiles that they could even take out the Malevolance and support craft. The Venators in Clone Wars should have been built with antifighter laser cannons and ion cannons for fighters

@cjzgatefan What YOU dont understand is that Im talking about what they could have done under the circumstances of this episode. Ashoka used these fighters without permission, she didn't have time to round up a good number of fighters, or come in for more fighters and lead another attack right after the first. Plus, the whole entire cruiser wasn't following her orders, all she did was run to the hanger and get a few pilots to follow her out by lieing to them. The cruiser wasnt part of the attack

@mikdatv the arc-170was used well after the galactic civil war. the x wing plz lets be realistic its a good fighter but just doesnt amount 2 the arc the only the xwings more advanced counterparts were i use during wars such as the yuuzahn vong war. tie defender was used in light of the fact that it was fast 2 produce many of them. the e wing i honestly dnt kno enough about it

@NoobSnoopy Because during the clone wars the large fleets of the republic were scattered all around the galexy in smaller faster fleets. With these small fleets scattered all around, it was easy to call in a small fleet a few solar systems away than a large fleet half way across the galexy.

Clone Commander: See. this i what happens when jedi lead the war. They bring in three cruisers to take out a blockade but only dozen fighters split between them. You'd think with the separatist bringing, idk, a hundred fighters per ship, we would be a little more prepared. But no, now we lost three ships and countless clone lives, takes to the jedi and their reckless "heroic" actions...... I should have defected to the separatist.

actually the clone army is closer to 10 Quadrillion, the Droid army was in the quintillion and right off the bat Count Dooku states in the first episode that the droid army outnumbers the clones 100 to 1.

the 3 million thing from Karen Traviss has long since been retconed.

Main reason for the minimalism in the series is well, budget constraints really, It's been explained that the series is in universe Propaganda films, hence the over the top newsreel style narrations.
