  • cleveland drivers i thought were bad until i just saw how good they are. Cincinnati has the bad of the bad drivers they are also very fast doing 80 in a construction zone.,

  • i was born in cleveland ohio but now i live in atlanta

  • the best way to visit cleveland....drive thru it.

  • I'm gonna be honest. I watched this video because I thought it meant drive-by shooting.

  • GO BROWNS!

  • My hometown. God I miss that city!

  • Amazing that Linndale police wasn't hiding under the bridge in that small stretch of 71 that goes through that village in your video. Must have been a shift change cause there's always a Linndale police car hiding under there waiting for its prey to pounce..

  • @jwjones967 LOL!!! That was the first thing that came to mind when I was watching this video. On 71 between 90 and 480.... the Linndale Border Patrol.

  • this is a great video. At 3:04, isn't exit 238 the airport (237) and 239 I-71 South to I-480 West? or are they both the same?

I am a roadgeek, but I don't have much time to travel, so this is a nice way to "visit" other cities virtually. Wish I had this when I was younger and could travel.

  • @jaecht83 Thank you!

  • the sharp curve is called dead man's curve which causes most of cleveland's accidents especially during winter storms. I-90 could have taken you to toledo as well plus it will save you money on the turnpike to toledo as well.

  • Hey Jim, with me and my obsession with planes, I'm surprised that when you went onto 480, and passed through Hopkins, that there were no planes taking of or landing.

  • Exit 9 - Grayton Road. That's where I grew up. In fact, exit 242 - W. 130th Street to exit 9 off 480 is the exact route we take when we take our daughter to see my parents.

  • am i ignorantForThinking thatThisWas aVideo ofADrive-By"Shooting"? lol.

  • @YoungLethal1 Hell Naw , You're not . I Did Too !!! Lmfao

  • 71 to the fulton rd exit is the way i go when im heading west on 90 .make a rught on denison .and im about a 1/2 mile down on west 54th..its good to see a video of my hometown on you tube...good job bro.

  • @jay112273 Thank you!

  • @Freewayjim you are welcome my friend.

  • I think they tore down the HoJo's on South Marginal. I caught a glimse of it just as you were getting on the highway, but didn't see it last time I was thru there.

  • Comment removed

  • why does cleveland have a "dead mans curve" Cleveland is flat yet it has a hairpin turn in the middle of an intercontenental corridor 90. If The road is do dangerous that ignorant clevelanders call it deans mans curve than fix it and make it safe dumb asses.......

  • @t445577o -Makes me wonder "What were they thinking?" when it was built that way back in the 1960's. I'll bet they expect cross-country traffic on I-90 to take I-271 & I-480 around the city.

  • @Freewayjim - Actually, yes... HC-tagged trucks are supposed to take the southern outerbelt, and overweight are routed (from the direction you drove) 90W-77S-490W-90W. The innerbelt bridge, as you noted, is over 50 years old, and needs to be replaced. Trouble is, you can't just take half of the existing bridge out and hope the other half can hold rush hour without running the risk of another I-35/Minneapolis type failure. That, and the whole county gov't is crooked and has been indicted.

  • @t445577o Your an ass!

  • @t445577o Your the dumb ass for posting a comment like that.

  • @t445577o Well genius, allow me to explain it for you. If you were to stay to the right as you come to Dead Man's Curve, you would end up on the Shoreway, aka route 2 West. After 3 or 4 miles, the freeway ends and becomes a main road (Clifton Blvd.) with lots of homes and apartments. For obvious reasons, no hazardous chemicals can be hauled through residential areas. Now, most of downtown Cleveland was standing before the highway system was developed. There wasn't much that could be torn down

  • @t445577o Learn some grammar and spelling. What the hell does "If The road is do dangerous" mean? deans mans curve??? Did you mean "Dead Man's Curve"?

    Dumb ass.

  • @t445577o its not that bad... its just the idiots that dont slow down enough when they go around the turn.

  • @t445577o it may be flat, but in that particular area there is an airport behind the interchange. im sure the airport was there before the interstate system, and they couldnt build a good freeway interchange there. If they went a little east, they would have had the lake right there. if they went west, they would also have the lake. so there was no possible way to put a decent interchange in that area.

  • @t445577o it's called dead mans curve NOT DEANS MANS curve you idiot. who u callin a dumb as you dumb ass. it's a sharp turn and people have died (when a semi is on either side of you it is quite frightening)

  • @t445577o I've heard that there is a lake in the way.

  • I love Cleveland so much

  • you exited to soon! that was my commute everyday except i went passed the airport one more exit to bagley road, i lived in Middleburg Heights. Gosh I really Miss that Little City> GREAT VIDEO

  • @Freewayjim I enjoyed this video, but not knowing if you live/ed in Cleveland or not, could you post a little asterisk or something, saying that some of those exits, like W.130th and W. 150th, are also accessible via I-90?

  • @Greg7042 Thanks, I am not from Cleveland, that was simply a drive through. Sorry but I'm not going to redo the whole video just to add the suggestions you made.

  • my dad grew up in a city called Akron u talked about it a little in this video but Akron is just as shitty as clevland. trust me if your white going to those schools its very bad

  • Cool video

  • hey freewayjim you should try going to akron ohio and filming thier freeways akron is about 30 miles south of cleveland and heres some freeways you can try if you decide to go there... i 77 akron ohio i 76 akron ohio ohio route 8 akron (route 8 is a freeway) and u.s. 224 akron ohio thanks

  • @zhw2121 I've got an I-77 video of Akron and Canton, and I'll be coming back up there soon.

  • Dead mans Turn!

  • Your ambigous title makes me sad.

I thought someone was gonna get shot.

  • It feels like a rollercoaster :o

  • clevland looks like charlotte nc

  • Cool video

  • Great video! I filmed Cleveland last weekend, and filmed I-90 East near Downtown, where I got a perfect view of the skyline and Progressive Field. Going westbound wouldn't give you as much of a good view. I filmed I-71, I-90, I-271, I-77, I-490, and OH-2. I didn't film I-80 or I-480 since I-80 is a toll road and I-480 didn't interest me.

  • yep,Cleveland i go their alot

  • Wow. That brings back memories! Are you from Cleveland? I believe that sharp left on I-90 is the one known locally as "Dead Man's Curve."

  • Why is it I can never ever get home this fast Lol always seems to be some dumbass in my way must have done this between the hours of 10 and 330 otherwise traffic would have been heavier

  • LOL that damn building with the whale on it!!!! Love Cleveland.

  • Love Cleveland, Love Stevie Wonder, Love Driving and your driving vids FWJ -

  • Hey ! They tore down the Ron Paul banners on the bridges again

  • I clicked this thinking it was someone shooting a gun while driving on the freeway. Damn.

  • dammit...i thought it was an actual drive by...awwwwwwww...

  • LOL. Wow - Cleveland looks really incredible.............You should use this amazing footage for the "Hastily made Cleveland Tourism Video, 3rd attempt". (Or have the guys that make those videos finally escaped?)

  • Cool!

  • where did you have lunch at

  • @59525354 Chili's

  • so this entire video is just someone driving on a highway? boring....

  • @lightcatcher76 My 1900 subscribers don't seem to find it so boring, oh well.

  • @AHyde12194 Wow, you get your kicks by crapping on other people's work? It's Ok that you don't like it but is it really necessary to crap on the video and everyone who might enjoy it? Gee I wish I were as cool as you, what have you done that anyone gives a crap about? GFY!

  • @Freewayjim He's is just mad because he feels if he does not like it then it should not be allowed to like it. If he had his way he would kill anyone that would not agree with him. He would kill anyone who did something he does not like.

  • @brian461oia -That is indeed sad.

  • @Freewayjim I enjoy your video's gives me a chance to see other parts of the country. My father has a video of Dallas, Tx from 1990 I am still trying to talk him in to copying it on to his computer and posting it on you tube.

  • @brian461oia Thanks, yeah that would be cool to see.

  • @AHyde12194 MYOFB C*** it's not you job to tell me what I can watch and can't watch and can a can't like and what I can and can't do with free my time!

  • lol cleveland is a nice city but the browns are the worst team in nfl !! ^^

  • yeah I think it's going to be up to the Cavs to bring a championship to Cleveland if it ever happens.

  • It's a decent city, I wish they would clean some of it up, but ehh not much I can do about that.

I have lived in Norther Ohio all my life (24 Years) and I have no Idea why people think its such a bad place.

  • @The009 i dont know why either- ive been to Columbus OH once and it was nice

  • Oh the memories of Greater Cleveland. I used to drive these freeways often. I miss Northeast Ohio. At least the freeways are still free unlike Central Florida/Orlando.

  • Dont Knock Cleveland, I LIve In Tacoma Washington Now, And I Hate The Interstate System Here, And Other Highways. Too Much Traffic To Deal With, And Inconsiderate People, Tailgaters, And Driving Over The Speed limit . I Long For "C" Town.........

  • i have been driving this freeway, brings back memories!!!

  • I got stuck in the Geto

  • Cleveland is the best city in the WORLD!!!!

Check out the west Side market if youre ever here, they have nice vendors.

    -KS-

  • Cleveland rocks!!!!!!!!!

  • Louisville was ranked in the top 10 safest cities with a population of over 100k

  • No, Cleveland isn't the greatest city, but trust me, there are far worse ones (i.e. Detroit, D.C., Louisville, Houston... of course, this is all MY opinion, not fact). I will agree with you though that the interstates get confusing on the shoreway. Like 2 or 3 different routes come together on "90". Actually, I think its just SR2 and I-90.

  • Cleveland sucks? Far from it. Some of the nicest suburbs in the nation, historic architecture, culturally influenced from many different ethnicity, etc. You are pretty much basing your opinions from hearse, not reality. More than likely, we don't like you either ;)

  • I think Cleveland gets an unfair rap, it's not a bad city overall. yeah there are some ugly industrial sections near the downtown area but I thought business sections of downtown were nice as is the waterfront and the suburbs seem nice as well.

  • @Freewayjim Fuck suburbs. Id rather see the grimy indusrtial shit. Thats the REAL city.

  • @kingnat2 - Ugly, grimy industrial areas can be interesting, I agree.

  • I have been there before many times....Cleveland,Oh is a cool city. You have the Cleveland Browns!!!!!

  • dead mans curve, i hate seeing the huge trucks go through it while i'm there.

    0:43

  • Cleveland, Ohio. A very friendly place for gun lovers. You can buy as many guns in the same day, if you pass the Background Check off course. We have CCW & there are several shooting ranges around the area.

You must visit Little Italy here. Great Cannolis at Corbo's Bakery & the best dam Pizza in Cleveland at Mama Santa's Restaurant located in Little Italy.

You can still find a job here in Cleveland, but I don't know for how long, with these gov spending & trashing the economy. Great vid

  • some of those streches of road look like LA's roads lol. they look sooo white! wonder if its the weather or the sunlight that does that to the pavement. just wondering

  • man clauge road is soo long..

  • the dude went by me house exit on grayton

  • i think i was the black Suv behind the truck at the w.150 exit

  • lucky you didnt hit a pot hole going thru

  • There is so much in Cleveland.

  • Nice video, I haven't seen these roads in over 10 years since when I was a little kid. I used to live near Pearl Rd. and the Westside Market.

  • the sharp turn is called dead mans curve

  • Wonder how u managed to avoid Columbus... where I'm at

  • We went across to Toledao, up to Detroit then down I-75 to Cincinnati.

  • ...still should of toured Columbus and help me swap my motor so I can drive again

  • I've always liked Cleveland. Unfortunately they took an even bigger hit, regarding population loss, than Baltimore did. When I was a kid, Cleveland was the 8th largest city in the nation. Baltimore was 6th.

  • Cleveland always has a special place in my heart (I'm from Akron). They cleaned up nicely downtown, with all the new condos. Unfortunately they took a big hit with the foreclosures. How big was Baltimore at it's height?

  • Baltimore peaked in population (as did most cities in the northeast and upper midwest) in the 50's. We had a population of 949,708, which, at the time, made us the 6th largest city in the country, and the largest city with under 1 million. We stayed in those positions in 1960 (about 939,000 +), but started falling in 70's (maybe 850,000 +), 80's (750,000 +), and then really dropping in 90's (640,000 +). We actually gained a few thousand in the 00's. We are currently about 645,000.

  • We had a population of 949,708 in the 1950's.

  • Yes. And all Cleveland has to do to get to 1.5 million people is force annexation of the suburbs by threatening to cut off their water supply. i.e. Columbus Ohio. Columbus and Cuyahoga County are Cleveland's biggest enemies.

  • Jim finally came thru my hometown! Awesome job Jim...you da man!

  • Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

  • They don't call it "Dead Man's Curve" for nothing!

  • Yeah that sharp turn is crazy when went to go visit family there we were amazed at it.

  • Stevie "Roadgeek" sez, "Way cool!!!" :)

  • The view is very familiar. The reason is I'm from Cleveland, and I am very familiar with most of the Cleveland area.

  • Nice, as always, Jim! Thanks for the ride!

  • Nice drive once again, FwyJim.

  • your videos are awesome!

  • Agreed! I saw a bunch of these vids there quite amazing!

  • amazing cool view of downtown as well
