@nfsh10 :) I actually like the music she makes along with these surprise performances where it shows a different side of her. But maybe that's just me, I kind of like all types of music so I can usually adapt to whatever she sings. I do find people are more surprised with her rock or musical theatre type performances, more than her usual music though. Maybe because they're used to seeing her one way. I like how diverse she is though - in her music & personality ;) which is why I like her.

I think Nicole being able to sing musical theatre, rock, pop, r&b, funk/soul etc. is an advantage because she can appeal to so many different audiences. Though a little tricky too, because she doesn't really just focus on just one - and people kind of want her to do the only music they like. But she did say in a recent interview that after doing the Phantom Of The Opera performance at Royal Variety last year, she's wanting to do more musical theatre this year, so we'll see ;)

wow she really pissed me off on x factor, but I will say that this performance of this song is absolutely beautiful. In my opinion, she should sing opera. Her voice is so incredibly brilliant on this song, and she got into it so much. that girl narrating, or talking was really a major bummer. nicole should come out with an album of opera, and im sure shed make a billion.

@HectorZertuche: I agree completely. Nicole Scherzinger has a lovely operatic voice and with training she could be a serious contender in that field. Beyonce's version of Ave Maria is horrible. Some songs should remain sung classically and not sung in a pop/r&b version. It just does not work for Ave Maria.

Actually a soubrette is characterized by the lack of force or power in their voice. Think Britney spears, Janet Jackson, Ciara. Soubrettes have light whispery medium range voices, no high belted notes and no whistle register which Nicole has. Nicole would be a mezzo maybe even a first soprano

@benjsinister Brtney Spears is nowhere near a Contralto. At the most she's a lyric soprano. There is not hint of a contralto in her. Her lower register isn't strong, powerful, dark, or manish heck she doesn't maintain a manish sound throughout her entire range. True contraltos are people like Toni Braxton, Cher, Anne Lenox, Chaka, etc. I don't listen to her much but i've heard enough. not to be rude or anything by the way.

@MrButler124 Actually she has a naturally strong lower register. Just listen to Baby One More Time, recorded when she was 16 and she goes as low as C3 or C#3 easily. Also, old videos of her show that she has a naturally deep and sultry voice though, just look her old videos (14 and below). She is using a technique where she sings from the throat and nose to fake a light and bright tone but do not be fooled.

@benjsinister I agree with what you said about how she "fakes" the higher register. The thing I would add is that the sound produced IS singing. ALL singing is the use of techniques. The "how she did it" doesn't make it any less beautiful. Singing is a matter of techniques & how well you execute them; falsetto is a technique, singing from the mask, proper use of the chest voice & a dozen other are not fake; it's called control. They are all part of what makes up a singer's voice.
