Ok, I have run a bully breed dog rescue for 7 years and there are some dogs that simply have the prey instinct to other animals. Would everyone be screaming euthanasia if a freaking poodle killed boo boo? The stereotype of a pit is ridiculous. ANY dog can be dangerous, unfortunately pits are too often raised by back yard breeders and not properly raised. They are a special breed that need to be handled by people that know how to treat them, with love and respect. Its amazing what they give back!

With two visitors and a bunch of yard sale people in and around your house near a dog that kills anything smaller than it, you're telling me someone accidentally opening a door was the cause of everything? Besides it was a garage sale she is required to make that area safe from her dogs, you can not predict how dogs, especially pitbulls are going to respond to people. Huskies for example have strong prey drives and are likely to kill small animals like cats or little dogs. Chows are inclined to bite without warning or provocation. And yes, pitbulls were bred to be fighters so they are more inclined to attack other dogs than some breeds. BUT there are great pits out there and the difference is the owner. Bad owners raise bad dogs, and pits attract bad owners.

She didn't force the woman to bring her dog, so she isn't responsible for it being there. As far as putting it in the basement with the door latched, I think that's a good (and common) way to secure the dogs for company. WTF did she want her to do, stick the dog in a locked vault??

Pitbulls do not have a natural drive to murder people; rather they are popular among people who have fighting dogs. In my experience as a dog groomer, I can definitely say that pits have better temperaments than labs. It just seems melodramatic "It WILL kill again." It didn't kill a person.

To use an old cliche, there are no bad dogs, only bad owners.
However, extra care should be taken with any PitBull related breeds as PBs are bred to fight other dogs, not to lovey dovey with them. That remains an instinct that is not easy to breed out and has to be controlled firmly with discipline. Besides it was a garage sale she is required to make that area safe from her dogs, you can not predict how dogs, especially pitbulls are going to respond to people. Here's something I find that could have been better for the both of them.
Clearly to the defendant, if you knew your dogs ate small animals and even though you had them put in a room, instead of warning just her, warn others by making a sign. 42 cents to make a sign that says "NO small Animals." I did it when I was younger, since my parents dogs were 'humanly friendly' ones, but not 'other animals'.

Huskies for example have strong prey drives and are likely to kill small animals like cats or little dogs. Chows are inclined to bite without warning or provocation. And yes, pitbulls were bred to be fighters so they are more inclined to attack other dogs than some breeds. BUT there are great pits out there and the difference is the owner. Bad owners raise bad dogs, and pits attract bad owners.
