Thatcher never deregulated the regulations on banking capital ratios e.g. capital bases and capital expenditure through loans etc. That is why in 1997, the amount the banks were lending out was matched by the amount they held on deposit. It was Gordon Brown who removed that regulation.

Privitisation takes away debt liabilities from taxpayers and puts it into private hands, thus saving us billions, and because the taxpayer no longer has that burden to support, any reasonable government should cut taxes at all levels, as Mrs Thatcher and her Chancellors, Geoffrey Howe and Nigel Lawson did. Of course business operate on the basis of profit, if they didn't, that business would not exist. Businesses provide everything we love e.g. TV, internet, books, games, music etc.
