this looks good i am looking for something that has the aesthetics and the feel of final fantasy 7 aesthetics - not graphics .and a a story that will keep me gussing like ff7 is this even close or will i be sorely disappointed? btw i have ps3 and pc and have tried dragon ages mass effects and most of the more popular ones thanx in advance
@criosan PC's era is going down.I bought a new pc 2 years ago and all the ne games that i want to play have their requirements beeing too high and that's the reason that many people buy consoles such as ps3 and xbox.
this game could've been soooo, so much better. the story line was fantastic, the graphics amazing, the gameplay was so smooth.... but the execution was terrible.
i HATED the "task" based journey.
other than that, it was fantastic. but nothing can get rid of that sour wasted potential taste in my mouth

This game is brilliant, BUT it had lots of things from Zelda in it. Like the boss in the Junk Heap - Bongo Bongo/the God monster thing in WindWaker? And when the Prince finds the mask? It made me giggle. Love Nier. Love Zelda. I love the storyline. Cried a lot during Nier. Love Emil. Love Kaine. Love Yonah. Love this game :D <3

It's a sequel to the fifth possible ending of Drakengard where Caim and Angelus are transported to our world when they left theirs to fight the Grotesqueries (weird freaky giant baby demon...things from the end of the game). Somehow he ends up over tokyo and they both get killed by a fighter pilot. Don't ask, I don't get it either.
@CarbonBasedAndroid ive seen the 5th ending, i youtubed it cuz i really didnt feel like hunting for every damn weapon in drakengard. but it seems very vague though for that to even happen, considering 2 different things are happening in each game, and where nier starts off is no where near where caim and angelus were killed
@cargonator I know it doesn't make any sense to me either. I've played both and don't see any relation myself, but this is what I read man. It's supposed to be a thousand years after that day.
@cargonator Just read a little Grimoire Nier (google it), really i was oblivion about how interasting the story of this videogame is. When you play NieR you ill find a lot of small papers with dates and some strange relates, other are showed in the loading screen. The game was designed for you to understand it till the first and a half playtrought.
I purchase this one and FF XIII the same day and i have to say FF XIII doesnt match.
@andrekassouf you have GOT to be joking right lol? Your talking about something that is upgradable in nearly every aspect. The graphics cards in new PC's today have enough processing power to be the main display driver for 3 ps3's lol. Consoles wont ever be better then PC's in term of quality. Consoles only kick ass over PC, for their range of titles and convenience. My opnion anyways :)

The thing about PC's is they're upgradeable... but that costs money. With a console, you're guaranteed to have a decently up-to-date multi-media device that will last you 10+ years.
PC's are vulnerable to viruses, and in order to keep up, you have to dish out a lot of money for extra graphics cards, etc... I'm not bashing it, I'm just saying that convenience and value are important to most consumers.
Hmph. One can easily build a computer with good enough spec's to run the latest high end PC games for... well, it depends on where you live. I could do it for about $800 easily enough, but I live in Australia (the land of ludicrously priced electronics). I imagine it's a lot easier in the U.S.
As for viruses, don't make me laugh. Anyone with a brain can easily avoid things like that. The reason people use consoles is because they are simpletons who dont want to read.

I really don't want to spend extra money on top of new games in order to be able to play them. And, not to mention, the console exclusives. I personally prefer console gaming to PC gaming. @Vire70 I can't speak for you, but I can speak for my friends and myself, and in our experiences PC gaming is expensive. My latest argument still stands however, I personally prefer the console exclusive games.
@MidgetguyII pc gaming isnt that expensive. At least not over time considering that the games are cheaper, and if you know how, you get games those games for free. And if your going to bring up the whole you gotta constantly upgrade hardware argument, thats only true if you dont buy the right hardware. If your pc is as powerful as the consoles, you wont need to upgrade until next console gen. My pc hasn't been upgraded for 5 years and it still runs latest games, and not on low settings either.
@Crashandburn999 Personally, I would rather not deal with the hassle. Even if the hassle is nonexistent. (=P) And after growing up with console controls, I prefer a console controller. (While I admit it's a lot easier to play FPS games on a PC and not entirely suck! haha) And, as far as getting games for free... you might be referring to stealing games off the internet, which is pretty easy yes, but I'd rather pay the people who make the games I love.
its not really like they forget PC as gaming platforms its more that there'd be less games sold overall round the world. Though more and more games are to be converted to PC's these days and the near future.

@kirroland There's a large difference between piracy on a console and piracy on a PC. Game piracy on PC is estimated to be as high as or higher than 70%, which means that for every 300 people that buy Square Enix's game on PC, on average there will be at least 700 people that pirated it.
On a console it's a different story. Yes, people pirate games on PS3 and 360 (and it's nowhere near as easy to do as the PS2 and xbox 1) but the rates of console piracy are estimated to be, at highest (cont)
@darkfire6991 I highly doubt piracy is that high. That sounds very exagerated , it would be 40% at the very most. Besides, you cant call every pirated copy a lost sale because the large majoirty of pirated copies would not have been bought in the first place anyway.

If they lowered the price of games, i'm sure a lot more people would be willing to buy. Since pretty much everyone has steam, publishers & valve could lower prices by a lot and largely eliminate the lost sale piracies AND lure other customers to buy their games. A large majority would NOT have bought their games in the first place. Most pirated copies are often people just trying new things out that they would not have paid money for, or are from people looking for a random game to play with their mates, or are from kids or certain adults who dont have money. I reckon bout 15% could have been sales. Dont get me wrong though, i do buy a hell of a lot of games I have 80 PS3 games, 14 360 games, 122 (i think) pc games, 8 ps2 games, 13 ps1 games
@kirroland at highest, a Fifth of the PC piracy rate. In terms of financial gain for multiplatform titles, the majority of the time, consoles easily earn more money for a game than the PC does. Who cares? Square Enix cares. Want Nier on a PC? Write an emulator, because Square Enix won't release a PC version and it makes perfect sense why if you read my reply. :) Yeah, it sucks but it makes sense.

Saving princesses and such characters that no one really cares about is quite prevalent in most JRPGs but that cliche is used quite well in this game. As for the bad acting and poor use of language, that just made it all the more apparent how little you know about this game. I highly recommend actually playing the game rather than judging it based upon your preconceived stereotypical notion of JRPGs.

@deathknight246810 Despite what the trailers show, this game is a hell of a lot more of a tear-jerker than a Final Fantasy (well, recent ones) can be, and certainly is more appealing in storytelling than and sort of God of War.

Haven't played the game yet, but since Cavia made it I doubt the story is cheesy especially when compared to most games out there. Drakengard felt a little above mediocre in terms of gameplay, but the story was its strongest point (especially the 1st one) and it was excellent and even hit on things that might seem taboo for a video game. It's just too bad Cavia isn't as good in the gameplay department.

Looks aren't everything. The game was mainly praised for its solid story and soundtrack. It is an action RPG, but it was supposed to be an RPG first and everything else second.

Just like movies have genres (action, comedy, romance, etc) games also have genres (FPS, Survival Horror, RPG, etc) in this case it is a hack n' slash, which is also the genre of GoW, Bayonetta and DMC. Just because a game is of the same genre as another it dosen't mean it is a rip off of it.

And I like this Nier better. The Nier in the Japanese version looks too perfect and pretty like most protagonists in JRPG games.

The thing about PC's is they're upgradeable... but that costs money. With a console, you're guaranteed to have a decently up-to-date multi-media device that will last you 10+ years.
PC's are vulnerable to viruses, and in order to keep up, you have to dish out a lot of money for extra graphics cards, etc... I'm not bashing it, I'm just saying that convenience and value are important to most consumers.

Hmph. One can easily build a computer with good enough spec's to run the latest high end PC games for... well, it depends on where you live. I could do it for about $800 easily enough, but I live in Australia (the land of ludicrously priced electronics). I imagine it's a lot easier in the U.S.
As for viruses, don't make me laugh. Anyone with a brain can easily avoid things like that. The reason people use consoles is because they are simpletons who dont want to read.

@Vire70 Hey now, I'm not insulting PC users. Just because I play on and prefer a console does not mean I'm a simpleton. I really don't want to spend extra money on top of new games in order to be able to play them. And, not to mention, the console exclusives. I personally prefer console gaming to PC gaming. There's nothing wrong with either of them.
I (AKA Mr. Supposedly Simpleton) at least have the common courtesy to NOT call names. I know it's silly to be rude.

Granted, my statement was just a generalization. You may not have been insulting PC gamers but you are spreading ignorant misinformation about it. It simply isn't true that the cost value is that different between them. Especially when you consider a PC is not all just about games, but has innumerable other uses as well.

@Vire70 I can't speak for you, but I can speak for my friends and myself, and in our experiences PC gaming is expensive. I'm not spreading these things as fact, considering everything I said has something similar to the phrase "personally I feel that..." which implies that it's my opinion and NOT a fact. Either way generalizing console gamers as "simpletons" is still extremely rude!
My latest argument still stands however, I personally prefer the console exclusive games.

@MidgetguyII pc gaming isnt that expensive. At least not over time considering that the games are cheaper, and if you know how, you get games those games for free. And if your going to bring up the whole you gotta constantly upgrade hardware argument, thats only true if you dont buy the right hardware. If your pc is as powerful as the consoles, you wont need to upgrade until next console gen. My pc hasn't been upgraded for 5 years and it still runs latest games, and not on low settings either.

@Crashandburn999 Personally, I would rather not deal with the hassle. Even if the hassle is nonexistent. (=P) And after growing up with console controls, I prefer a console controller. (While I admit it's a lot easier to play FPS games on a PC and not entirely suck! haha) And, as far as getting games for free... you might be referring to stealing games off the internet, which is pretty easy yes, but I'd rather pay the people who make the games I love.

@kirroland There's a large difference between piracy on a console and piracy on a PC. Game piracy on PC is estimated to be as high as or higher than 70%, which means that for every 300 people that buy Square Enix's game on PC, on average there will be at least 700 people that pirated it.
On a console it's a different story. Yes, people pirate games on PS3 and 360 (and it's nowhere near as easy to do as the PS2 and xbox 1) but the rates of console piracy are estimated to be, at highest (cont)

@darkfire6991 I highly doubt piracy is that high. That sounds very exagerated , it would be 40% at the very most. Besides, you cant call every pirated copy a lost sale because the large majoirty of pirated copies would not have been bought in the first place anyway.

Some of them wouldn't, no. However were piracy much lower than it is estimated to be, a Very high majority of the pirate copies could indeed be legitimate purchases, thus revenue, and encouragement for the developers to continue working on that platform.

Those statisitics you presented was from research conducted by these companies and are exagerated in order to justify their ridiculous anti piracy measures (which only serve to drive people to piracy mind you) and to make the public think its really bad to help make people more willing to buy their games. And i know piracy on pc is far worse than on console, seeing as how no one wants their xbox or ps3 banned from going online. If they lowered the price of games, i'm sure a lot more people would be willing to buy. Since pretty much everyone has steam, publishers & valve could lower prices by a lot and largely eliminate the lost sale piracies AND lure other customers to buy their games. It'll never happen though.

I'm thinking when everything is available for download opposed to CD is when things will become a lot more profitable. Of course that is the distant future.

After the diploma (and the bacholor that follows) I'm going to try and get some work experience at a game studio; not really picky about which one. At the same time, I'll be building a portfolio of my work, to demonstrate what I can do. You'd think that with experience at a few studios combined with a decent portfolio would be enough to start.

A large majority would NOT have bought their games in the first place. Most pirated copies are often people just trying new things out that they would not have paid money for, or are from people looking for a random game to play with their mates, or are from kids or certain adults who dont have money. I reckon bout 15% could have been sales. Dont get me wrong though, i do buy a hell of a lot of games I have 80 PS3 games, 14 360 games, 122 (i think) pc games, 8 ps2 games, 13 ps1 games

@kirroland at highest, a Fifth of the PC piracy rate. In terms of financial gain for multiplatform titles, the majority of the time, consoles easily earn more money for a game than the PC does. Who cares? Square Enix cares. Want Nier on a PC? Write an emulator, because Square Enix won't release a PC version and it makes perfect sense why if you read my reply. :) Yeah, it sucks but it makes sense.

@Kitt0000 Your comment screams ignorance. I'll give you the first one. Saving princesses and such characters that no one really cares about is quite prevalent in most JRPGs but that cliche is used quite well in this game. As for the bad acting and poor use of language, that just made it all the more apparent how little you know about this game. I highly recommend actually playing the game rather than judging it based upon your preconceived stereotypical notion of JRPGs.

Haven't played the game yet, but since Cavia made it I doubt the story is cheesy especially when compared to most games out there. Drakengard felt a little above mediocre in terms of gameplay, but the story was its strongest point (especially the 1st one) and it was excellent and even hit on things that might seem taboo for a video game. It's just too bad Cavia isn't as good in the gameplay department.

ok Ive played this game and all i have to say is DO NOT GET IT! the story and fighting is tolerable but every thing else is terrible! the main character is an ugly middle aged guy who you will not wanna look at for 20+ hours and the graphics are blurry as hell! god of war 1 has better graphics....thats pretty bad. and well there are so many things that will turn you off about this game. thats just a few

Everybody who is going to say "ZOMG, this is a rip off of GoW!!!11one!" please, go study videogames before even concidering buying one! Just like movies have genres (action, comedy, romance, etc) games also have genres (FPS, Survival Horror, RPG, etc) in this case it is a hack n' slash, which is also the genre of GoW, Bayonetta and DMC. Just because a game is of the same genre as another it dosen't mean it is a rip off of it.
