There was absolutely no change to Phil's accent! His vowel sounds are all Kiwi. Accent is affected by environment. The need to be understood affects it dramatically. When I go home to NZ my accent changes without me being aware of it, but I still get ragged for my Canadian accent. In Canada I get ragged for my NZ accent. Can't win. Please help NZ - a UN official has stated the devastation is as bad as Haiti, but fewer people died due to the less concentrated population & location.

Phil is right though... I think the Christchurch quake shouldn't deter people from coming down there. There are so many beautiful places in New Zealand which are earthquake free. Other than agriculture, tourism practically run the economy. Hopefully Christchurch will be on it's feet in no time.
Too bad I need the internet to watch Craig

In all seriousness - they do talk about some serious shite. Death toll is at 148 and rising.

I know the guy's from New Zealand, but I never hear the Kiwi accent EVER; either he's been in America too long or he can switch back and forth.

Phil started in a show called Spot On, which was made in Christchurch. And he grew up there. :( It's so tragic for my home country.
