Ritalin made my son goe crazy!!!!!! I have twins that are diagnosed with Bipolar, ADHD, ODD and one is also RAD. They are 6, and you know what gives me more to love!!! But as a single parent I understand somewhat of what you are going through, hope it gets better!!!
The ritalin does take away the hyper stages. I dont think he has ADHD. Can you tell me the symptoms seen in a bipolar child? My prayers go out to you..
I left my bipolar (abusive) husband a year ago. 3 of my 4 kids are getting pshyciatric care and may have bipolar. My X also dropped out of the picture- quit work, moved, no child support. Which is all for the best. My 9 year old has a lot of aggression- tried to get out of the van on the freeway/ tries to choke me/ hurts himself/etc. I believe your right- the discipline is useless- he doesnt even remember some of what he does. He is now being treated for ADHD- the ritalin makes him more violent.
Just thought that I would mention that it takes a huge person to confront the issues that you do with such honesty. You are very real and true... Your children will grow up, despite the troubles that they have had, to know that their mother loves and cares for them unconditionally. You should be really proud of yourself. Thanks for sharing!
I'm not trying to be rude, just trying to help. I have a severe milk allergy which caused bipolar like symptoms. My mom has the same allergy. Have you investigated the possibility of food allergies? As this is something that has been with me all my life, I wish my parents would have checked it out when I was a child. Just a thought...
