I have 2 of my own rats and my mum has 2 too. the 2 females share a cage and the 2 males share a cage. i only got mine the other day but they have really bonded with me. Nipper (one of my males) sits on my shoulder and i can walk around the house with him.

When i got him he sat on my shoulder and Napper(his brother) sat on my mums shoulder.

Rats are the best rodents/small pets you can own. ive now owned 9. they are great.

i didn't really teach them as such, i just spent absolutely tonnes of time with them so they bonded with me really well. All the trick u c a totally volentarily done by arwen because she wants to be near me bcos thats where she feels safe, she used to follow me around, i mereing encouraged already existing behaviour

I just about lost one, I was bathing them and I left them unattended for 5 minute's and came back to see one had drowned, I gave it CPR, mouth to mouth and he came back to life. miracle rat.

You should! Rats are very social critters and they need a play buddy to keep them entertained when you're not around!

Go for a 10-12 week old. You should get a separate cage for the new one while they get used to one another. Play with your current resident like you normally would, and then take the new one out and let your older girl get aquainted to the new one around her "safe zone". The baby will be curious enough. It shouldn't be long before they start to get along and be able to share the same living space.  G/L!
