Woot, I wish more Datsun owners got real Toyota power like this. RB's are dogs and blow up at the drop of a hat, most overrated engine around. I've never seen a stock RB bottom end hold over 400hp on a factory engine without hideous pipes everywhere to drain all the oil out of the head. Funny that every 1J 2J 1UZ on earth could do it for a decade with the right supporting boost...

what a waste of a 180sx.. that thing will be so front heavy now.. how does it handle?? my sr20 pushes 220hp, and could get 300hp if spent 2g au.

well actually its not front heavy at all, all alloy block, makes it lighter than an RB! so stick that up ur pipe and smoke it...

like the description says, its a 4.0 L V8.. Its out of the toyota soarer =)

oh and the previous owner had the motor tuned for 180HP as it was in a Mazda MX5 (Miata).. so the 223HP is a gain from opening up the stock exhaust manifold... =D

yeap, but this motor was in a Mazda MX5, so it was de-tuned to 180HP for that application... my power gain was from opened up factory exhaust headers :)

Nice! Since youre using the motec are you still using the stock MAF sensor or is it a MAP system now? just curious.

not 100% sure myself, must be a MAP as there is no MAF..?? dunno

yeah thats correct, there might be a temp sensor but other than that on a MAP system there wont be anything between the air filter and the throttle

i didnt put a v8 in this car to get 223hp. I put in the car to be original, and in my books, nothing beats the instant torque/rumble of a V8... Forced induction will help me get over the SR20 power limit, no worries ;)

Its a Motec computer tuned by Matty Spry from PITS. IT was tuned for 190Hp when it was in the previous car (Mx5) and when we installed it in mine we opened up the stock headers for a bit more flow... did the trick!!! :P Manual Rx7 5 Speed Box
