Um. I could be wrong but I think you don't -really- have to pay for the CD. You can just download the game from the NC Soft launcher and then just start paying the monthly fees. (I downloaded Aion from the NC Soft launcher.) What makes me hesitate though is why would Steam make you pay to download it when NC soft lets you download it for free..

The only thing i can think of that would hinder you is Vista itself as its a terrible operating system thats well known to crash during play of other games and software. You might be lucky and play fine, if not, get that shit off your poor pc and either shell out the cash for windos 7 or dongrade to XP and you should be golden.
imo i would just pre-order from their actual site since, if u do, u get to play like 2 days ahead of time since its just a digital download and all ur info is on their site and stuff, instead of waiting for ur box to arrive at gamestop on release day and then use the key to make ur account

What really killed wow for me was the patches, I owned a paladin for 3 years and I really could not stand seeing NERFBAT followed by NERFBAT.
there was a big nerf or big buff in every patch and i really got confused about my skills after the 30th re vamp.
WoW is only to blame and possibly the whining fuckheads that post "nerf (class) its far too powerfull qq" threads too are also to blame for the killing of wow.
Hey guys. I am quitting my current MMO that i've played since day one, Lord of the Rings Online, for Aion. I led one of the top 3 best clans on AoC when I played it (Niflheimr -- currently Legion of the Black Dragon)... but am going to focus all of my time on this game. I have lots of experience leading clans and such, and have quite a few RL and online friends going to join my clan. Please get back to me with more information, surely we can make this game a fantastic social experience.
Honestly i have to say WoW is going to do nothing more then slowly die out. Up to WotLK the game has been rather interesting and challenging but ever since the patch before wrath, it has only gone down hill. The game is running out of lore and i find the game to be getting more unstable when it comes to PvP and PvE. With DK's running around face rolling, and blizzard nurfing bossess in raids, the game has made me lose interest in total. To sum it up, i think Aion will be the game to kill WoW. :D

But once the then lead game designer of the series, Rob Pardo, left the franchise to work on Blizzard's next project, Jeffery Kaplan and Tom Chilton destroyed the franchise.
Wrath had a lot of great elements to it, but I left the game after the disappointing direction those two were taking the franchise in.
I hope Aion will bring in many WoW players like me with its launch.
Lineage and Lineage II did not fail, many games like Diablo, Diablo II and soon Diablo III exist because of Lineage. And Lineage II was the most successful MMO before WoW existed, it was the first MMO to reach Over 7 millon players around the word.
Also, don't tell me that dailys and leving up professions, and crafting in wow its not grid...and PVP in WoW just fail...they kill it wh
Ive been playin wow for 3 to 4 years now..i was there in the old MC days, i did BT and sunwell before they were nerfed and i have done All of Ulduar and most of the Hard Modes.I can tell u, i doubt this game will end up with wow...but certainly its fresh air to me.
Btw my guild kill the new boss in the Coliseum (25 man) the first night it went live...pretty lame, Blizz keeps makin wow easier for the lame players, i wish they stop doin that, no point on been Pro if the game has no challenge on it
I've been playing WOW and now im playing beta and i have to say it's a much more different style of battle. There is not only buffs and special attacks.The *ASDW* movement can change a battle.
W Attacking Style A & D (dodge) S Defensive style.

Example: Deathruns, Dodgeball, Suicide Jump competition, Execution competition. WoW at least makes these things possible.

I have to disagree. My friends and I played WoW for a long time. And once you get to the level cap and join a raiding guild to see the content, all it turns into is a grind. As does pvping, grind honor for new items, only to have to do it again when a new set/raid is released.
While those "fun stuff" take up some time they get old fast.
Just going to shead some light onto this conversation u can't say aion is a fail from info from china or Korea and I'll tell u y aion in other countrys are running on the 1.0 patch the aion game that is being released in NA is being released on 1.5 so in truth u can't judge this game until September 22 when it is released :)

I am currently playing the EU/NA Beta and there has been hardly any loading what so ever. When you change continents it goes to a loading screen but its only there for literally 2 seconds, very good considering the graphics are so high quality.
im leaving wow for this game... ive already played the beta's past 2 events and its awesome... character development is sweet. the arena is always full unlike someones comment. yes it is a baby amongst the mmo's but all the best games were at one point as well..... it's pvpve.. player vs player vs environment... meaning you can go into the opposing factions dungeons and screw them up... gonna be hella lot of pvpness goin on imma love every it.and how often do you get to fight in flight?
I got good friend playing Aion in Korea. All PvE fights are ONLY tank and spank. Monsters got no spells, you need 1 tank, 1 healer (only 1 class avanible for both) and random DPS, and boring spam on 1 button before "boss" die.
PvP is about geting a lot ppl in one place and get them fighting. And u know what? This "arenas" are allways empty.
Aion nbiggest, and only "+" are quests. It would be good singleplayer but as MMO it fail.

this game look good but it could have been great, they took somewhat angels as background but the only bad ones are still somehow on goodside, you should be able to really choose the good guys or some vicious demon side unfortunatly that is controled by the game
While I admit cinematic don't make a good game, this still looks like a promising MMO. I don't think it can beat wow if so many other mmos couldn't before, but I will definitely give it a look see.

this game looks good but I´ve read the endgame content is centered mostly around pvp making this less interesting for me than WoW

this game look good but it could have been great, they took somewhat angels as background but the only bad ones are still somehow on goodside, you should be able to really choose the good guys or some vicious demon side unfortunatly that is controled by the game

While I admit cinematic don't make a good game, this still looks like a promising MMO. I don't think it can beat wow if so many other mmos couldn't before, but I will definitely give it a look see.

Example: In PVP: Cabal beats WoW due to its complexity.
But in terms of population etc... WoW has the uperhand depending on what you are complaring.

It's p2p in the Chinese and Korean servers. You don't pay by the month like WOW, EQ, or WH. You pay by the hour.

Obsidian is right. It's nor the same. It may just feel like 15USD to you, but not to others. Like her in the Phils, 15USD is equal to 600PHP. If you come here, you can't buy the same with what you can buy back home with your 600PHP. 600PHP feels the same as how letting go of 50-60 dollars to you.
