I respect ECW, but It isn't my favorite. It didn't appeal to everyone. ECW did a lot of controverial things, the only thing I was offened by was the sandman crucifiction thing. You can thank ECW for the Attitdue Era, and for that I will always respect ECW.
But I don't think it could have ever got has profitable as WWE or WCW, ever, becuase of bad business, the product also didn't appeal to a nationwide audience.

I remember The Dudley's promo, that almost caused a riot. But unfortunately, Vince stucked his nose into ECW and it slowly died. I love WWE, but ECW was incredible!

i got to recognize , i didn't watched original ECW alot , but since 2007 i'm buying from Ebay dvd's with original ECW matches and dang , what i saw there , it was better than WCW , wayyy better . To see Sabu kicking the others with barbwired bats , to see Sandman kick his head with the beer can til he bleeds , to see RVD or Cactus Jack jumping from 10 feet tall to barbwired tables , to see chokeslams on tacks ... it made me cry because that was proud extreme wrestling.

The original ECW, not Vince McMahon's bastardized revival he called ECW is one of the best wrestling organizations ever made! It was real, it was hardcore, and it had some of the most vocal wrestling fans ever assembled.
@xCeRTiFiieDx Trust me I was growing up around the time of ECW, ECW was the best around, but the true reason I like ROH more is, because of the wrestling, I do like ECW crowds more, but it's the actual matches. Plus they own Shimmer, which is an added bonus. That's just me, I love really technical matches with a clean finish, I don't even need blood, or weapons to enjoy the match if it's good.
@emcce69 If you were around during ECW, you'll know that ECW had the best pure wrestling in north america. ECW had guys like Benoit, Guerrero, Malenko, Scorpio, Guerrero, Douglas, Taz, and many other pure tehnicians while WWF had Duke The Dumpster and The Goon. ECW was different, and while I find ROH a good wrestling product, it isn't much different from WWE and TNA, it may be better, but it isnt much different. I'm not gonna lie, I never watched the Orig ECW as a kid, my dad was a WCW fan and thats what our family watched! but thanks to finding a friend who taped almost every ppv event (he had that free box HE USED IT) and he taped every episode, and he let me borrow a bunch of them, it was pretty cool. it wasn't part of my childhood so I can't like Jump up and down for everyone that worked there (in fact I dislike a few fo the workers but I know, it was great writing and great TV!
@WrestlingMerchandise It effected the fans big time. The WWE and WCW stole all there great wrestlers. Raven left for a short time, and Sandman also for a short time. Mike Awesome, Dudleys, Tazz, Jericho, Guerrero, Benoit, etc. If they had gotten paid more they would have stayed.
@DML960 Nahh. In my opinion, the original ECW is the best wrestling promotion of all-time. There were A LOT of great matches in ECW. ECW had a lot of great workers and great wrestlers who went out there and gave it 110 percent every night. The wrestlers of ECW busted their asses to entertain the fans, unlike some old guys in WCW who just showed up to collect a paycheck. ECW was a great promotion.

The thing for me is that all of the points that you made that I agree with I get in ROH. The reasons I like ECW that you mentioned would be stuff like good tag teams, continuity, strong storylines, realistic in ring work and all of that stuff is why I like ROH (not just modern ROH). Stuff like no DQs, raunchy crowds, half naked woman and violence aren't things that I necassarily look for in a wrestling product. Im still a fan of ECW though as I have stated previously.
One thing i liked about the original ECW was that they pushed two guys who were misused in the wwe Shane Douglas aka Dean Douglas in wwe and Bam Bam Bigelow
i would really love to see the wwe acknowledge the real ecw someday by inducting some of those guys into the hall of fame. they deserve it. hardest workers the business has ever seen and ever will see.
The thing that i loved most about ECW was they were the first place in america to promote a cruiserweight division. Guys like Super Crazy, Rey Mysterio, Psycosis. It was just another inovative thing on ECW until Bischoff stole them all.
Also when Stone Cold was in ECW. He cut amazing promos and helped put over a lot of talent like Mikey Whipwreck
The violence looked more realistic because it was more realistic. Doing that weekly was one of the reasons that the downfall of ECW occurred. Their wrestlers were getting too hurt.

@xCeRTiFiieDx Trust me I was growing up around the time of ECW, ECW was the best around, but the true reason I like ROH more is, because of the wrestling, I do like ECW crowds more, but it's the actual matches. Plus they own Shimmer, which is an added bonus. That's just me, I love really technical matches with a clean finish, I don't even need blood, or weapons to enjoy the match if it's good.

@emcce69 If you were around during ECW, you'll know that ECW had the best pure wrestling in north america. ECW had guys like Benoit, Guerrero, Malenko, Scorpio, Guerrero, Douglas, Taz, and many other pure tehnicians while WWF had Duke The Dumpster and The Goon. ECW was different, and while I find ROH a good wrestling product, it isn't much different from WWE and TNA, it may be better, but it isnt much different. I respect ur opinion but I'll always find ECW the best promotion of all time.

TNA is pure crap. They were pretty cool from there start ,up until late 2007, but now I can't stand TNA, and WWE I watch just for certain talent.

I'm not gonna lie, I never watched the Orig ECW as a kid, my dad was a WCW fan and thats what our family watched! but thanks to finding a friend who taped almost every ppv event (he had that free box HE USED IT) and he taped every episode, and he let me borrow a bunch of them, it was pretty cool. it wasn't part of my childhood so I can't like Jump up and down for everyone that worked there (in fact I dislike a few fo the workers but I know, it was great writing and great TV!

@WrestlingMerchandise It effected the fans big time. The WWE and WCW stole all there great wrestlers. Raven left for a short time, and Sandman also for a short time. Mike Awesome, Dudleys, Tazz, Jericho, Guerrero, Benoit, etc. If they had gotten paid more they would have stayed.

@DML960 Nahh. In my opinion, the original ECW is the best wrestling promotion of all-time. There were A LOT of great matches in ECW. ECW had a lot of great workers and great wrestlers who went out there and gave it 110 percent every night. The wrestlers of ECW busted their asses to entertain the fans, unlike some old guys in WCW who just showed up to collect a paycheck. ECW was a great promotion.

The thing for me is that all of the points that you made that I agree with I get in ROH. The reasons I like ECW that you mentioned would be stuff like good tag teams, continuity, strong storylines, realistic in ring work and all of that stuff is why I like ROH (not just modern ROH). Stuff like no DQs, raunchy crowds, half naked woman and violence aren't things that I necassarily look for in a wrestling product. Im still a fan of ECW though as I have stated previously.

The thing that i loved most about ECW was they were the first place in america to promote a cruiserweight division. Guys like Super Crazy, Rey Mysterio, Psycosis. It was just another inovative thing on ECW until Bischoff stole them all.
Also when Stone Cold was in ECW. He cut amazing promos and helped put over a lot of talent like Mikey Whipwreck

The violence looked more realistic because it was more realistic. Doing that weekly was one of the reasons that the downfall of ECW occurred. Their wrestlers were getting too hurt.

It doesn't matter how it died the fact of the matter is it died. Vince Mcmahon even secretly funding ECW so how can it be the best wrestling promotion of all time if they're own competition had to fund them
