Let me enlighten you. There are still great bands making black metal, you just have to get your dick out of your hand and find it: Deathspell Omega, The Konsortium, Obscurus Advocam, Spektr, Krallice, Peste Noir, Iskald, Inquisition, Woe... The list goes on.
Well im actually a traitor to Black Metal as well. I really dig Darkthrone' punk albums! I agree the new mayhem isnt that good. And Gaahl is a queer, thats true but he is a very smart man and a great vocalist. I dont think he is that bad. I respect him because of his philosophy and that he is a good vocalist. Wouldn't even give a damn if he liked to stick his dick in the ground. And i listen so much outside of Black Metal. There are bands enough these days that make good black metal.
Gaahl really isn't that smart. He tries to make himself appear smarter then he really is. Plus, I think he's a piece of shit after King and him tried to kick Infernus out of Gorgoroth and steel the rights to the band out from under him.
Its your opinion. But i can understand his point of view on stuff he says. Dont care what he does, but his philosophy behind the things he said in a couple of short clips is really something i can agree with. Thats all, and well yeah its pretty stupid what they did but Gorgoroth is fucked for me now. The latest album is boring as hell..

People have to stop letting the 90's bands ruin their chance to do some research on the now deserving newer bands and those who are still good.
